Redaspen takes the Foxy JG in fine style

Redaspen won her first stakes race, winning the Foxy JG, a 3yo filly PA stakes race. Here is the chart (race 7). She broke on the outside, stalked the pace down the backside, got close going around the turn (again on the outside) and then took the lead in the lane and drew 1 1/2 lengths clear by the wire. An impressive performance.

Victor Molina, who gave Redaspen a confident ride (he has ridden her in all eight starts to date) was very complimentary about the condition of the filly and seems excited with her prospects for the summer. Its always good to have someone with such experience giving you positive feedback on the your horse's progress, and having the consistency of Victor's services for each of her starts.

Redaspen seems to have come out of her race in good order. We are thinking of keeping her in PA bred stakes for now, and perhaps run her back in late July.

The supporting feature Saturday, the $50,000 Foxy J.G. Stakes for PA-bred three year-old fillies, was won in a mild upset by Equivine Farm's Redaspen. Someday Farm's Last Toots and Spring Water Farm's S W Aly'svalentine came in with the press clippings, but Redaspen went home with the money. Rallying from just off the pace, the Bianconi filly, trained by Tim Woolley and ridden by Victor Molina, went on the win by a length and a half and returned $12.40 to her backers. Last Toots, a heavy 1-2 favorite and already stakes placed in open company, faded in the stretch to finish fourth.

Hi Alex,

Just go to the link to Philadelphia Park - on the home page are choices like "gift shop", "live video" - the "press box" is what you want.

Bye, Mike.
