With claiming horses you already have a base-line on where your horse belongs and it is often the case of good maintenance and care that keeps them at a certain level.
Young horses with untapped potential have to learn how to race. Assessing the horse's strengths and weaknesses are a constant challenge while juggling fitness, knowledge and taltent, the training of a young horse is time consuming and requires a lot of patience.
