    Barbaro Updates: 10

    updates are now here.

Update 253: Barbaro had another comfortable night last night (sunday). Again, he was able to get up and down two or three times. Michael Matz relayed this positive news to me as I was coming back from the track at 6:50 this morning (monday morning). He had just spoken to Dean Richardson.
    Updated 7:10am

Update 252: No new update this evening. It seems this Bloomberg article: Racehorse Barbaro Keeps Positive Attitude, Healthy Appetite (thanks Lisa) seems to confirm what we learned earlier today.

While things remain critical regarding Laminitis, I think the next "event" is a cast change on the right hind, likely early next week (me speculating).

Some have noticed Delaware Park has a cool video "Get Well Barbaro". Others may notice how similar this is to Beautiful Barbaro. Great work Jayne! For those new to this site you may want to look at all the entries on the Fan Media page. Its pretty awesome (I can say that since I did not contribute)!

Update 251: Starting a new entry as the comments of the previous updates seems to be behaving oddly. I went to Delaware Park, but left before the big races to come back and watch on ESPN2. I am still waiting to watch (the races have run)! I did get to Delaware Park early in order to meet Jeannine and go and watch her interview with Michael Matz from yesterday at Delaware Park (a piece of which should be included in the ESPN2 piece). It was a very good (5 minute) interview. It makes me think that while I understand only a segment of the interview will be edited into the TV coverage, the entire interview should be made available on the ESPN site (hint hint). You could see Michael get visibly emotional as Michael noted towards the end of the interview:

"All it takes is one miracle" (when discussing Bobby's prognosis)... and with tears in his eyes "he's a fighter"

We snapped a couple of pictures of a nice poster from a fan (7 yo Taylor), who is dropping the poster (along with her parents) off at New Bolton on their way home.

    Comments

I thought I was having computer problems. I haven't heard any news on Barbaro this afternoon - I will watch ESPN2 and hopefully get an update.

Barbro - my love - stay strong - chin up, stand tall (when its comfortable) - I am with you in spirit. xxoo and scratchies

    Hey Alex

I thought all the "energy" fried the site!!

Bless you for all you do.

    Good Evening Bobby,

I was checking on your day, so hopefully you had an easy day today. I hope you have another good nights rest and have the sweetest dreams possible. You are always in my thoughts and prayers. Remember, I BELIEVE IN YOU-ALWAYS. More good days are ahead, I know it. Just keep up your spirts and mood and listen to your doctors little one. I love you Barbaro!

    Dear Bobby,
You WILL pull through this. Many people are sending you good thoughts and strength. As each day and night comes, never forget that. We are here for you always. You WILL win this race, your most important race of all.
    Love,

It's good to know that I'm not the only one having trouble seeing our posts! I hope that today has been another "comfortable" day for Bobby. I hope that those close to him are feeling some encouragement from his demeanor during the last few days. I am continuing to feel positive about his outlook. He's got the odds IN HIS FAVOR with his wonderful owners, amazing docs, and the BARBARO maniacs behind him!!! Most horses just aren't as lucky to have the support that he does, and most horses don't have his gentleness, intellect, and will to live. The odds are with us, not against us! Does anyone know - how long before a string of "comfortable" days with laminitis add up to a better official prognosis?

Posted by: Sheila at July 16, 2006 11:20 PM

SO GLAD BOBBY IS STILL DOING WELL TODAY AND HAD A GOOD NIGHT LAST NIGHT. I WAS PRAYING FOR HIM LOTS AND VISUALIZING HIM HAVING NO PAIN AND BEING HAPPY.

I'M HAVING SUCH A HARD TIME KEEPING UP ON ALL THE POSTS, SINCE THURSDAY THIS BOARD HAS REALLY BEEN FLOODED.

THANKS ALEX, YOU ARE THE BEST!!!! I FEEL LIKE SENDING YOU A FRUIT & CHOCOLATE BASKET TOO. :>)

LOTS OF LOVE TO BARBARO, THE JACKSONS, MICHAEL, PETER, KATHY, DR R. & THE NBC STAFF, ALSO EVERYONE WHO'S HEART IS BROKEN OVER OUR BOBBY. I ALSO ABSOLUTELY LOVED WHAT PRADO SAID, THAT IS SO TRUE, I JUST LOVE HIM!!!

PS- I ACTUALLY REFERRED TO MY SWEET ADORABLE DOG AS BARBARO TODAY. OOOPSY!! I WAS TALKING TO A FRIEND AND RATHER THAN REFERRING TO HIM AS "REGGIE," I CALLED HIM "BARBARO!!"

Posted by: Cheryl at July 16, 2006 11:23 PM

Thank you so much for getting the site back up, Alex. You're a great guy!

Here's some more of the Associated Press article from today:

While Barbaro's condition is being constantly monitored, it was a relatively quiet weekend around the New Bolton Center. Residents and interns tended to their rounds, checking on the many other animals in their care. One resident said he's treating two goats in the stall next to Barbaro's.

The weekend brought an outpouring of sentiment from Barbaro fans. Baskets filled with apples, carrots, mints and packages of sugar cubes and several flower arrangements were delivered for the third straight day after Richardson said Barbaro had laminitis.

A couple from Hershey, Pa., made a side trip to the hospital and left a get-well card at the front desk before heading to the races at nearby Delaware Park.

"So many people are rooting for Barbaro to make it — he was going to be our Triple Crown winner," Dawn Templin said a few minutes after admiring the get-well cards, flowers and fruit baskets on display in the lobby. "We came here to leave a card, and just see the place where they're trying to save his life."

    Stay comfortable, Barbaro!

Posted by: Debbie Thomas at July 16, 2006 11:29 PM

Glad to know no news is good news in this case. Barbaro myself and people around me prayed our hardest at 7 pm yeaterday at ˙our vigil" time. I hope your are improving minute by minute, however slowly. Just keep going forward, OK, we can't chance any more problems, big beautiful horse. Get well We LOVE you!

I can't thank you enough for all of the updates you are providing! I check this site 1st thing in the morning and all through the day!
My thoughts and prayers are with Barbaro and all that are associated with him!
Keep the updates coming! It is great to hear Bobby is doing well! He's a fighter and a winner!!

God bless Bobby and all of you!!

Still waiting on the races! This golf game will not get over.

By the way I am sending a care package to New Bolton Friday so if any one has some new creative things to add let me know.

I read a couple of articles that had an update from NBC but haven't seen anything on their site.

I too will be observing the 7:00PM (est) tonight.

Thanks Alex for the news! You are the greatest!

Posted by: marie at July 16, 2006 11:40 PM

You mentioned in the Update #7 that you could be seen on Randy. Are you the chap in the red helmet?

    M. Matz says " all it takes is one miracle" and nothing said was ever truer! That's what Barbaro needs and what we all will keep praying for. I hope Barbaro has had a restful Sunday and hope all of you Barbaromaniacs have too. I've been in the car, driving and riding as a passenger, for six hours today so I am glad to get back to the site and check on the big guy. I get such reassurance reading the posts from all of you. Pray for Barbaro- Believe in Barbaro.BB

Posted by: Bobbie B. at July 16, 2006 11:46 PM

Boy am I glad we're back! I thought it was just me. Won't that stupid golf game EVER end???? It was suppose to be over 1 1/2 HOURS ago!

I sure wish we could download the whole interview so we could peruse it, cause I just know that ESPN will do a hatchet job (no offense Jeannine but you know those time constaints they have...).

I'm still a little unsettled from yesterday. I know this is going to sound weird but I'm glad that some of you are also feeling kinda unsettled--like something in our world went topsy turvy. I know I'm not alone.

Bobby if there is a golden lining in this afternoon it's that my "positive" vibes which haven't been so positive today--they can't seem to make it out the front door. Maybe you're being protected.

Just rest, relax have a lazy Sunday afternoon. I hope someone comes and gives you a great massage. Oh and have a carrot on me!

I love you big guy, and all those great folk at NBC who are working so hard to help you. Tim and Alex you have been a total god send to many of us who are so desperate for Bobby news. Most of us may never meet you in real life but we love you too. I hope we can always remember to treat each other with the same love and kindness you have shown us (by having this site) while visiting here.

Wanted to say that our AOL online vigil last night at 7:00 PM ET was really lovely. We had about 22 people during the vigil and it was so good to be with others who are positive and sending so much love to this great horse.

The room on AOL that we made will be open 24/7 and anyone on AOL may drop in and just leave good positive energy in the room. We will probably continue vigils at 7:00 PM ET every night.. so please do visit the room. The link to the room is

This is how I describe my devotion to our dear Bobby....crazy to the point of dangerous! Hey Gang...

In trying to catch up on the posts, I must say, I found the comments about selling Barbaro's manure highly stimulating and informative...(Was that you Chris?) I found the idea so cute that I thought we could all get in on a development project (with Barbaro's cooperation,of course) and create a new fragrance especially for you, Chris...call it OH D' POOP. I can hear Barbaro calling his agent even as we speak.
The other image that I loved was the image of the horses breaking into their food stores and ingorging themselves with feed. Proving, once again, that horses and humans aren't too far removed.
(Chris's penchant for manure is clearly a representation of that philosophical argument.)
So the next time you raid the fridge or
just can't seem to pry yourself away from that
lilting waft of manure...Remember, we are not so different from our four-legged friends so go out and hug a horse! He may just invite you to lunch!

(Chris I hope that was you...if not I apologize in advance)

I went over to ESPN.com while I'm waiting for this NEVERENDING GOLF GAME TO END! (sorry that's just my frustration).

They have a short video clip (not Jeannine) and a transcript that I think most have seen. Bobby seems to be in Stable condition to the surprise of many--after Dr R listed him in critical Thurs morning.

Me, I'll take Stable. I'll take Stable for as long as it takes to get Bobby back to whole again.

Well they say good things come to those that wait...I'm waiting ever so patiently (kicking the desk and whatever else is nearby and available--LOL).

Oh, good. We are all back. I thought maybe we were being spanked for bad behavior yesterday....or that the site blew up in self-defense...

I'm reposting this because I got it in just as the new page started up, and it might interest some of you:

This is about on Mary S's note, and everyone?s notes about why Bobby is so smart ("asking" for his sling, etc.)...

Scientists are finding that the human heart has a whole independent nervous system. So in a sense, part of our thinking is done in our heart. Here is one article that touches on this issue:

    http://www.learningdiscoveries.org/HeartRhythmsandHRV.htm

    And a quote:

"The 'brain in the heart' is a network of neurons, neurotransmitters and proteins that send messages between neurons. Like the brain, the heart also has support cells and a complex circuitry that enables it to act independently, learn, remember, and produce the 'feelings of the heart.' The type of information sent from the heart to the brain has profound effects on higher brain functions, influencing our perceptions, emotions, thought processes and learning abilities."

Doesn't it make sense that this may apply to horses, too?

Remember that yesterday in the image that came to me while I was meditating, Barbaro's heart was a prominent symbol....

Basically, even though horses have relatively small brains, a horse with an amazing heart, like Barbaro's, can perhaps be smarter than the brain size would indicate, because he is making connections with his heart, and sending them to his brain, and both together are more than the sum of the parts.

This is speculation on my part, but there is emerging science out there (on the human side!) to support it. Google 'brain in the heart' for more.

I also remember reading, in the original article I saw on this subject some months ago (which I now cannot find) that some cultures find it odd that Westerners have the idea that they think with their heads; because these other cultures view the HEART as the seat of cognition.

Good updates and funny posts! "Excellent appetite", "stable condition"--yessss!!

And now, we hear of rampaging hordes of horses tearing down buildings and stealing oats...marauding through picnic grounds and stealing pickles...It's HorseZilla!!!

I hope it's only a matter of time till we hear that Bobby got into a stash of treats using all his strength, skill and cunning (without hurting himself). Till this site, I had no idea horses could be sucj tricksters.

You guys are so funny...those are my thoughts exactly...I mean, golf is excruciatingly slow, even when you aren't waiting for something else to come on...

It makes me nervous to not see any updates from NBC today. The last time they were silent, we were shocked to find out how much Barbaro's condition had deteriorated. It helps to hear anything, like "He rested in his sling" or "He lay down and got up" or anything! I want to know if they are able to manage his pain today. I hope they tell us something. Barbaro, we love you and are pulling for you every minute of every day.

Just watched Michael Matz on ESPN2 - what a truly amazing individual and man. Anyone who says these folks are in it just for the money and do not get attached should just watch the complete emotions this man has toward Barbaro. God Bless you Michael - for training a hero and champion. Barbaro's attributes and spirit are most likely a reflection of what you have instilled in him......way to go....

Posted by: Deb G. at July 17, 2006 12:40 AM

Michael Matz is making me cry. How much he must love that horse and worry about him as much as we do.

Barbaro - get better soon baby - make us have happy tears every day from now on!!! Use your sling, nip at Dr Dean, flirt with the fillies and mares that come buy. Just keep a good attitude!!
I love you baby. xxoo and scratches.

I was thinking this evening how lucky you are to have all those loving, caring people at NBC watching over you constantly, and how I know that is in large part helping you to maintain the strength and courage to keep up this daily fight. Thank you to everyone at NBC as well as the Jackson's, the Matz's, Peter Brette, Edgar Prado and everyone else with the ability to spend time with our Boy daily. You all have the ability to do what thousands of us out here would like to do....Love on that sweet boy!!! Thank you for all you are doing!!!

Remember the jerk who wrote that article today that we've lost our perspective on Barbaro, and he's only one horse, and all that money could be spent on sick people, and he mentioned the problems we're already having with Medicaid.

I sent him another email to point out something I missed the first time:

SO, WHEN DID BARBARO GO ON MEDICAID???????????

Well if its anywhere Pamela, it will be on the ESPN site or on YouTube later if someone grabs it and uploads it.

Posted by: Laura in Key West at July 17, 2006 12:44 AM

For those wondering about the lack of an New Bolton update today on their site, ESPN.com has an official update about Barbaro (as of about an hour ago).. he's stable and appetite is excellent, along with a positive attitude, vitals good, per Dr R.

This hopefully means he's fought off that bacterial infection he had last week, which is great news and could mean he's at least overcome that big obstacle!

Posted by: Bill at July 17, 2006 12:45 AM

ESPN2 'just' aired the episode by Jeannine with Michael Matz (due to sudden death in golf). It was obvious that Michael is quite upset for good reason regarding the guarded condition of Barbaro!

Have a good rest, Big B!

Just caught the last part of the report on Barbaro on ESPN as Michael Matz was saying: 'All we need is one Miracle'

This is soooooo hard on everyone! Just got to hang in there and stay positive.

'He's a fighter!' No truer words were ever spoken. Didn't feel like watching the rest of the televised horse races.

The candle I lit for Bobby last night is still burning and it will continue to burn for him and all who care about him and are caring for him.

Posted by: Janet at July 17, 2006 12:47 AM

You may have something Marilyn. I know from the Secretariat video that they measured his heart afterwards and were stunned to find it like twice or three times normal size.

And someone said the other day that they might find out about the same concerning Bobby (only that'll take years).

    Margaret

    )))))....

Basically, even though horses have relatively small brains, a horse with an amazing heart, like Barbaro's, can perhaps be smarter than the brain size would indicate, because he is making connections with his heart, and sending them to his brain, and both together are more than the sum of the parts.

    Marilyn (((((

All we need is one miracle.

I wonder though, aren't we already in the process of the miracle. Does it have to be a sudden thing? Or can we watch the miracle as it unfolds before us. Are we not in the middle of the miracle by the mere fact that Barbaro is still with us. Perhaps instead of hoping for the "one miracle" we should be in awe of having the once in a lifetime opportunity to watch one unfold before us. God has already sent the miracle for us to watch.

    Hello guys,
I'm new to this site but I have been checking it all weekend. Thank you Alex for all of the information.
I just saw the segment on ESPN 2 and although short, I won't complain. I welcome updates and interview sessions with members of Team Barbaro. Michael Matz, it's no wonder Barbaro loves you so. Your heart is overflowing with love for Barbaro and it not only shows in your eyes, but I heard it in the quiver of your voice during your "Miracle" comment on ESPN 2. God Bless you to help Barbaro and keep his spirit strong.
Barbaro, may you continue to be strong for your recovery. Listen to your medical team Little One, they are working so hard to make you comfortable yet progress in your recovery. I will continue to think of you and pray for progress. May you be comfortable and have only sweet dreams tonight!
Dr. Richardson and staff, I know you've heard it a thousand times, but, thank you. I am not good with words but what I lack while writing, my heart goes into "overdrive".
Much love to all of you and Barbaro, not only my love but big hugs and kisses for you!
    God bless.

Pamela, It might have been the actor - many people own racehorses (including me!) and as an owner, almost always (even in a partnership), all owners get to go into the winners circle for a picture if your horse wins. :-)

Are you kidding? I watched golf for two hours to watch just one race? What are they thinking - they totally cut the horse racing out... :-(

Posted by: Deb G. at July 17, 2006 1:05 AM

Thanks Pamela. Let's hope it is nothing too serious.

They scratched a mare before the race beause the jockey felt a pinching in her . The announcer said that "Better safe than sorry" is becoming an industry standard since Bobby. Gallant Secret was pulled up and they were splinting her front leg but she was still standing. I did not notice anyone freaking out so maybe Alex can give us an update. Now please everybody - no bad comments or vibes here as this is the livelihood of our generous hosts.

Bobby is having an impact on the industry!!!!!!!!

Gallant Secret does not seem to be a Fair Hill Horse. Owner is Elkhorn Oaks, Inc. and they are the breeders, Trainder is: James R. Jackson

Oh, I hope Gallant Secret is alright. At least she's on her way to hospital - perhaps to NBC? We can add her to our healing thoughts and prayers along with Bobby.

    Is the site down?

Posted by: Pamela at July 17, 2006 1:25 AM

Alex--we appreciate you and all you do!
    Thanks!!!

Bobby--now that you are accustomed to your sling, be a good boy and let them change your right cast this week without anesthesia--just a mild sedative. Be nice to Dr. Richardson and maybe you'll get a massage and treats after the procedure. I want a good report on that leg this week!!!! I believe in you!

Posted by: Sandy Kelm in Texas at July 17, 2006 1:25 AM

That's Gallant Secret's, and they do have some family in common. I don't really know why I posted her pedigree, except that I didn't have any news of her condition to post and hoped that her lineage would help her overcome her injury somehow.

Posted by: Susan E. at July 17, 2006 1:25 AM

I can't believe it! I missed the Michael Matz interview while I was posting a message here!!! Will there be a link anywhere allowing those of us who missed it the ability to view it online?

Posted by: Susan A at July 17, 2006 1:26 AM

I am so new, this may be out of line, but...

Does Alex need to provide updates on horses other than Barbaro? I saw Gallant Secret go out, too, and am concerned, but Alex has so much to do with just Barbaro and the rest of his website.

It may be too much to expect him to follow up on every injured horse, sadly.

Or does he usually do this?

Forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn.

Posted by: Marilyn at July 17, 2006 1:28 AM

Marilyn - I agree with you that we cannot expect Alex to provide us with up-to-the-minute updates on every horse that is injured. We can certainly express our hopes that this horse is ok without making that our "demand" (as if we have any authority to demand anything here :) ). I'm grateful to get the most recent info on Bobby from him in between his real job!

Posted by: Sheila at July 17, 2006 1:30 AM

    Alex
Thanks for getting us all back...I thought maybe we all talked too much and fried the computers.. my family thinks I talk alot! They should meet the Barbaromaniacs!

I didn't know they had sudden death play-offs in golf, shows how much I watch it...

Finally saw the abbreviated race and the filly pull up.....am trying to find out more info, anyone find anything yet?

The brief interview with Michael Matz was great and I had to get my kleenex. My husband just smiled. Now he is watching the Tour de France coverage, and we will be watching the ESPY's later on. Because Lance Armstrong is hosting it and I want to see Edgar get his ESPY!!

I think Barbaro can pull a "Lance." Lance had a less than 5% chance with the cancer he had but he made it.

    Go Barbaro Go!!
    Still praying hard!

Posted by: Nancy at July 17, 2006 1:30 AM

I saw the interview and watched the race. I have to admit that it is hard to watch a race since the Preakness I prefer to watch reruns of the Kentucky Derby. What was the name of the horse that was scratched??? They were talking to vet Kathy Anderson. I sure hope Gallant Secret is going to be ok. As hard as it is for us to watch a race think about the ones closest to the horses from what I have read including in that book about Ruffian an injury to horse is never far from their worries.

Posted by: Mary Langkamp at July 17, 2006 1:31 AM

Alex, I am taking a shot here, but could your comment have something to do with the amount of free space added?

Ok, I wasn't alone waiting 2 hours for the golf to end. I saw a few innings of baseball during the wait. It was enough time to see my team get pummeled (two l's?) again.

I'm sure many have already posted about the 2 incidents at Delaware Park. One horse was scratched before getting to the gate, and the announcers noted that people are now playing closer attention to the health of these guys after Barbaro's incident. Wasn't another horse pulled up during the race?

Actually, it's refreshing to see them actually put these horses lives ahead of a $2 ticket.

What first bothered me was that they were running in what was it 97 degrees? Is there a danger to the horses running them over a certain temperature? This is from someone whose not a horse owner who doesn't do well in excessive heat.

I just couldn't wait to hear the Barbaro update, and it was as good as it gets for now. Great!

My local news had a small segment about how Barbaro is defying the odds. They showed old footage and said that he's hospitalized in a facility in PA.

    Barbaro, staying cool this afternoon?

    Love ya,
    Edie

Posted by: Edie at July 17, 2006 1:32 AM

Since this was the Delaware Handicap on the road to the Breeders Cup and it was on TV - not to mention our concern here - I think Alex will find out through his connections what the story is and let us know.

I saw Kathy Anderson on TV and I was shouting to my husband "that's Kathy Anderson, that's Kathy Anderson!!!!!" and he tought I was hyperventillating!

First, I want to say how happy I am that the "room" seems much more upbeat today, reminds me why I like to visit here.

Second, I hope that at least occasionally, the Jackson's, the Matz's, the Brette's, the Prado's,
and all the folks at NBC, look at the postings on this site and know just how special they all are and how much we appreciate everything they have done and will continue to do. I worry they aren't aware enough about how we feel.

Third, I agree with the posters who now find it hard to watch horse races. I too, seem to always be watching, worrying another will get hurt until they are safely out of the gate. I hope the racing industry will start thinking smarter, not harder, about ways to make things safer for the horses. There will always be injuries, some with tragic results, but perhaps these discussions will spark new ideas about safety.

Lastly, IT'S HOT!!!! I see from the weather, and others in the room, those of us here in Texas are not the only ones suffering from the
heat, it was 103 in Dallas today. I am sure you have plenty of A/C there Barbaro, if you get too warm, maybe they'll let you hang out by the pool for a while....Hugs and Kisses

Pamela (and all). Very similar as Gallant Secret has Storm Cat in the bloodline. My horse: Storm Cat was bred to Tomorrow's Child and they had Tomorrows Cat. Tomorrow's Cat was bred to Costly Emotion (sire: Affirmed (yes, the 1978 Triple Crown winner and out of Mrs. Flagler) and then Tomorrows Cat and Costly Emotion had my colt "Way of an Eagle". He is 2 and training and schooling and should race sometime in September. He is a beaut and feisty and intelligent and CURIOUS :-) Secretariat and War Admiral in those bloodlines too! gosh, can you tell I'm excited...

Again, I would LOVE to have a colt from Barbaro...

I did hear earlier here that they are going to replay the show in entirety around midnight (but I don't know what time zone), or even it'll happen.

Perhaps as Alex said ESPN will air the 5 min clip in its entirety over at their site. If they do--I highly suggest watching it. You'll see how much Michael loves this horse.

Hello all...I'm glad the site is back up! I thought it was my computer also, so I spent time doing maintenance stuff..still didn't work. I figured we fried the site! I was in the process of thanking everyone for their kind wonderful words about me crying about things when the site glitched...so THANK YOU! I do feel intensely about things, good and bad. It has been hard, but it is the way I'm made. I always thought I was abnormal somehow..it's nice to know maybe I'm not after all!

Sarah..your question about when Barbaro going on medicaid gave me the biggest laugh of the day..that was cute.

I was going to let you all know, I live on a ranch in Texas where they raise racehorses. One of the horses here Four Ten Slew, who is the grandson of Seattle Slew! I took a picture of him "feeling his oats" last weekend..I wish there was a place to post it so you all could see it. It came out pretty good..except I had to be quick and I couldn't get over there fast enough and the fence is partly in the way. I love this place. When I'm feeling bad I go out and love and scratch on the horses, and it is so soothing to my spirit.

Barbaro..I'm so glad you have had another good day today and I will be praying that you continue to have nothing but good and better days from now on! If I could I would come and scratch and love on you too! Keep fighting you big, handsome boy!

Blessings to all this Sunday night, after a weekend of renewed expectations, wavering between superdrive positive relief, quiet reflection and prayer, and niggling anxiety around the edges with what tomorrows will bring. Always returning to the encompassing gratitude for what and whoever is in charge of this miracle, or at least the manifestations of it to which we are witness... that at least helps wipe away anything which might detract from the bright shining light and love and power our Bobby has generated. It is SO evident here, amongst believers, Alex and Tim, and all of Barbaro's friends, connections, support staff, NBC, Alie and staff (and what goodies would YOU like???).

So, anticipating the honor of seeing Edgar on the ESPY's, I sit watching major egos with superficial inane self-aggrandizing banter, and hope that Edgar's humble humanitarian gesture resulting in the saving of the life of a friend and the growth of a positive movement of life force in this world is given the import it deserves on this telecast. Edgar could have been recognized solely for the tremendous athlete and competitor he obviously is, but knowing that he immediately flew back to the East Coast after the ESPY's and drove hours to spend time with Bobby in his time of need, and after watching Michael Matz with tears in his eyes, it makes much of this ESPY broadcast seem artificial and superfluous.

Perhaps I am just overreacting to this last week of high anxiety, life and death issues, and must admit - I have always loved bicycle racing and Lance Armstrong has been one of my heros, too... but I haven't been much interested in the Tour de France this year, as long as I can have Barbaro updates. How my perspective, and that of many others, has been changed by Barbaro.

    And changed for the better.

    Much love to you all...

Alex increased the "capacity" of the website.

Think of it like this--a website's size is basically predetermined--but it can be expanded.

To make it simple--there are so many posts/messages--that the website couldn't hold anymore data (it isn't just the messages--but the pictures also take up a lot of room on the site as well). Hopefully that makes sense.

    Lets continue to stay positive.

ARE THE CHANCES OF BARBARO GETTING LAMINITIS IN HIS RIGHT LEG (THE BROKEN ONE) VERY COMMON? DO MOST HORSES THAT GET LAMINITIS BADLY GET IT JUST IN ONE LEG OR DOES IT OFTEN SPREAD TO THE OTHER LEG. Just one more comment about the press... I have read a number of what I would presume to be pretty hardcore sports journalists and other non-sports commentators lately who have surprised the heck out of me with their compassion and hope for Bobby's recovery. If nothing else, I have been touched by their coming out of the "professional" shells they must wear to let us know how Barbaro has touched them.

Speaking of Edgar, one of the best SF Chronicle's sports columnists, Gwen Knapp, has a very touching column today about the role of the jockey... here it is:

Bobby, do they let you watch television??? You can see Edgar tonight! Both of you are the BOMB!

    Cheryl,

Nope, I am not from Indi, but we can say I'm your friend anyway! I am from MA! Well, born and raised on Army bases all over the world and now work at Fort Bragg, NC. My horse is at Aqueduct, just came up from FL - life is good and I am praying HARD for Barbaro.....nearly forgot about my beaut training....I hope he is the slightest bit like Barbaro one day :-)

Posted by: Deb G. at July 17, 2006 2:19 AM

And here I was thinking I was the only one subjected to watching two hours of golf! I was recording the races, at home. I just happened to turn the channel and notice the hideous golf on, and see it was preempting the race.UGH!! I was really steamed when I only got to see, one race, Fleet Indian win, then some other show comes on,whaddya think about them apples?

I was also choked up to see the raw emotion in Michael Matz's eyes, it was so clear he was about to cry, I am sure it made Jeannine cry. It was so sad.

BARBARO-I HOPE YOU HAVE A RESTFUL NIGHT TONIGHT AND SLEEP SO SOUNDLY, AND DREAM WONDERFUL DREAMS BIG BOY!! I LOVE YOU DEARLY PRECIOUS BOY

Posted by: Dora J Crow at July 17, 2006 2:19 AM

Well, life will be good and so much better as Barbaro heals!!! :-)

Michael Matz exhibits the same spirit Barbaro has - it is no wonder Barbaro simulates his training. Michael is amazing and it was choking to see him try to talk about Barbaro. Very emotional and Big B has so much love going on for him....

    Hi Bobby!

So glad that you are having good days. I watched the video "Get Well Barbaro" and "Beautiful Barbaro". They are so well done and they just confirm everything I so believe about you. You do have the heart of a champion and the eyes of an old soul. Keep up the good fight, all of us out here are fighting and praying right along side of you. I hope you can feel us in your heart.

    Bobby
May you have another peaceful and comfortable night. One day at a time. Be a good boy and use your sling as much as possible.

You should be on the ESPY's tonight for the 'best athlete' & 'most courageous'. Your winning the Derby should have also been the 'best moment is sports'.

    We Love you so.....

Mike C: I agree. I am actually a golfer - love to play, DON'T LIKE TO WATCH IT, especially on TV. I left it on for 2 hours waiting for the races and updates on Barbaro. Disappointed they cut the racing short. Regardless, does not change the positive energy flow for Barbaro - what a true WINNER, fighting the toughest race of his life.....

I know the word is spreading about how up to date you all keep things here and of course all the great people on the message boards! Just say so or set up a special fund for keeping the website up and going for Barbaro and all the "Family" and I am sure more would be willing to help out also!!

Very STRONG emotions thinking of Barbaro fighting for his life. I lost the fight for my dog's life on may 31st. Following Barbaro has been such a wonderful cure for my heartbreak. All of my energy was re-directed toward B's recovery. If I EVER get another dog, I will name him/her Barbaro - a true inspirational spirit. I can't wait until they make a movie on him - and see visions of an ending of green pastures and little B's running around :-)

Bill said: "For those wondering about the lack of an New Bolton update today on their site, ESPN.com has an official update about Barbaro (as of about an hour ago).. he's stable and appetite is excellent, along with a positive attitude, vitals good, per Dr R.

"This hopefully means he's fought off that bacterial infection he had last week, which is great news and could mean he's at least overcome that big obstacle!"

That's a really good (and comforting) point. Of course, you are speculating, but what wonderful speculation it is! We should all be expecting very good news about the fracture site.. A big problem nearing resolution..

We hope you have a very good and restful night, dearest B..

Signed back on. Penny, I don't know who the goats are and I can't recall which story I read, but they are in ICU next door to Bobby. I have no idea whether he has ever experienced a stable goat, nor whether Tbred stables even use goats for companions anymore! On Barbara Livingston's site, she has a wonderful picture of Bobby peering at a track kitty, looking baffled, entranced, and wary all at once. He loves his Messaging. He was very interested in the mares and foals that were in ICU with him previously. So, I have hopes that goats will help entertain him and keep his spirits up!!

Thanks Marie. My beloved Kaiser would go everywhere with me, unless the military did not let him. Had him for more than 13 years. Barbaro has been a HUGE source of distraction for me and it has been wonderful reading all the positive posts and animal lovers out there.

Posted by: Deb G. at July 17, 2006 3:07 AM

    Goooooooood evening everyone!

So glad Barbaro seems to have had a good nights rest and another good day. My nephew slept over last night and I took the time to show him Barbaro's races and then educated him all the way up to where we are now.

I told him Barbaro is the champion of our time and that one day when he is older, and people talk about Barbaro and his greatness, he can and will remember all this. ( He's an animal lover just like his Aunt :) )

I will even be (hopefully) getting him out trail riding this week while we are camping.

So after showing him everything, I then had to hold up my end of the bargain, and proceeded to play XBOX until 3:30am... *rolls eyes* I did it for you Barbaro ..hahah.

First thing this morning when we were getting ready to go out he asked me about Barbaro, and I was so happy... So I told him Barbaro had a good night and that he nudged his sling as if to say " Hey let me back in" and he laughed and said that must be a good thing, I agreed.

Someone mentioned something about a baby shower, too funny.. I was at one this afternoon and split early because I needed my Barbaro fix!

Then on my way home.. out of the complete blue.. my husband says.. " I think he's gonna make it" and I said "Who?" and he said " Barbaro" I darn near spilled my drink, and I said " Where in the world did that come from?" and he said " Well you talk about him everyday, so when you think about him it makes me think about him too."

Barbaro my boy.. what can I say... you are simply amazing, and concern and love for you is infectious.

I offered the name "Brothers Keeper" for Barbaro's as of yet unnamed little brother and it was unamious that it was a fitting and cool name.

However, Barbaro's half brother has the coolest name I have heard in awhile.." Man in Havana" hahaha I always picture some short little seedy guy wearing a trenchcoat and a hat standing in a horse stall smoking a cuban... No idea why... but it makes me laugh. Very cool indeed.

FYI: The good folks at horsehats.com have gotten back to me and say they are just waiting on the lawyers right now, and that the hats for Barbaro will be around soon. ( Special Edition Barbaro hats, proceeds to Barbaro fund)

And with that, I cannot re-state enough how important this Barbaro fund is, when we look at things that even happened today ( so sad ) another 2 horses having problems, Barbaro's fund will go on to help so many other horses that it really is the best way to honor Barbaro and to give back to those who ask so little.

And with that all out of the way, I will re-post what I have absolutely fell in love with since seeing the movie Dreamer.

    To Barbaro:

You are a great champion. When you ran the ground shook. The sky opened and mere mortals parted. Parted the way to victory. Where you will meet me in the winner's circle. Where I will lay a blanket of flowers on your back.

Lots of love, hugs and kisses.

    Barbaro,
I have been praying for a miracle for you to recover fully and to get well soon beautiful boy. To hear that your eyes are sparkling, and that your nudging things, that your doing well in your sling and that you were trying to get it back on yourself after having it off for a little while and that your bones are healing and your appetite is excellent is very encouraging and your strength and strong will to not let this defeat you is a beginning of the miracle starting to happen, I believe in you and with all of the love in your heart and with all of the love in everyones hearts who love you, I know that you will pull through this trying time. I love you Barbaro, my candle is lit for you, have a comfortable and restful night,

Penny...Messaging is the companion pony of sorts for Barbaro, who was always ridden by Michael Matz while escorting Barbaro and asst. trainer Peter Brett to and from stable, track, etc. There is a pix on this site showing Barbaro and Messaging in a stall side by side, nuzzling each other. Apparently, these companion ponies help the thoroughbreds stay calm.

And I'm not a horse person, never knew there was such a thing, so I might not have explained it very well.

Posted by: Sarah at July 17, 2006 3:39 AM

Wow, Sarah! Then it sounds like it would be a GREAT idea to have a visit from Messaging! I wonder if that is possible !!!!!

Posted by: Penny Walker at July 17, 2006 3:39 AM

Penny - From what "horse people" have said in here, probably not a good idea.

#1 Barbaro might get excited, so that wouldn't be good. Bobby might think it's time to go to the track to work out!!

#2 Because of the need for as much sterility as possible, not good to have horsey visitors.

Posted by: Sarah at July 17, 2006 3:44 AM

    Shannon,

Picture Alec Guiness when you hear the name "Man in Havana"--he played the role in the wonderful, comic movie of the Graham Greene novel (a comic cold-war spy piece). Very appropriate for a son of Quiet American, since Greene also wrote a novel with that name. (It's been made into a movie too--not so comic, but really good.)

Sarah: Goats are pretty dirty. Can't help but think NBC would sterilize them (wash em' up, etc..) before putting them next to Barbaro. Don't know about you, but I'd get a bit annoyed with goats next to me - grew up on a farm, they are not the most calming animals! :-)

Posted by: Deb G. at July 17, 2006 3:55 AM

The goats are patients in the ICU, according to the story.

Posted by: Susan E. at July 17, 2006 4:01 AM

Sherry...kewl about Thailand...my major question which my son can't seem to answer...any major taboos regarding clothing for women. I know their clothing standards are somewhat conservative, but I read that old women like me do not wear pants. Is that for real? Or since I'm a "tourist", is it OK to wear pants, except to temple sites?

So much for signing off. Can't locate the Mike Matz interview--anyone have a link?

Much goat talk tonight! Personally, I like the little critters. Since I'm the one who brought up goats in the first place, here's a goat joke. Laughter is the best medicine! Apologies to anyone who might be offended by the clergy reference.

The young couple invited their aged parson for Sunday dinner.

While they were in the kitchen preparing the meal, the minister asked their son what they were having.

    "Goat," the little boy replied.

"Goat?" replied the startled man of the cloth, "Are you sure about that?"

"Yep," said the youngster. "I heard Pa say to Ma, ?Might aswell have the old goat for dinner today as any other day.?"

CONGRATULATIONS TO EDGAR PRADO, 2006 ESPY AWARD BEST JOCKEY!!

If ever an athlete deserved recognition, it is Edgar Prado. He loves horses and does not just ride for the money. His mount's well-being is his first concern. He meets his horses and gets to know them before he rides them. He knew Barbaro was hurt, pulled him up right away, and kept Barbaro calm, using his own slight body as a fourth leg to keep Barbaro off of his broken leg. Though he is one of the country's busiest jockeys, riding at tracks all over the country, he has visited Barbaro several times, and not for the publicity. His family has also visited Barbaro several times. Mr. Prado got up at 4:30 am on a race day to drive hundreds of miles, for several hours, to see Barbaro when Barbaro took a turn for the worse.

Congratulations, Edgar Prado, a gentlemen and a true horseman.

My pony had founder same as laminitis in her front foor we sent her to the vet school in Alabama-She put too much weight on the other foot same as barbaro except his leg was broken-I feel that if they use the sling bthat will allow him the ablility to transfer less weight-I am puzzled about how often they change his cast-whY are they doing that so often-when bones are broken-dont they need to stay stable so they can knit?-Any way I continue to know and feel that Barbaro can beat this -it is not an impossibility-I also talked to an animal communicator today she said that all the prayers help him and keep the staff on the toes-when they know the world is concerned and thats a good thing so keep it up she told me-she felt that he would beat this-I have taled to her before and she was right so keep the faith-

Posted by: margaret from sc at July 17, 2006 4:26 AM

Just curious: Does anyone know why they didn't use the sling before he got laminitis since they knew the onset would likely take place in 6-8 weeks after the break if he was going to get it? God bless him.

Margaret, they are checking the broken leg for infection, because of all the metal from the plates and screws. Also if the cast is too tight or not tight enough then they need to adjust for that.

Posted by: Laura in Key West at July 17, 2006 4:41 AM

Margaret...I think it is to check for signs of infection and they get a better radiograph without the cast on.

Penny...I read somewhere that they can develope colic from it's use....

Now I really am going to bed.

Posted by: Mary S at July 17, 2006 5:00 AM

I'm just speculating, but it sounded like they did not need to use the sling at the beginning. Barbaro was comfortable and moving well. Horses need to be on all four legs to maintain circulation. I would guess that is why Barbaro is not spending every minute in the sling now. They want him to move on his own and carry weight. I would also think that long-term use of the sling may cause other complications.

I don't know about anyone else, but I have a very good feeling about the upcoming cast change.

Joyce, I'm glad to hear you have a good feeling about the cast change. I'm nervous about it, so I appreciate folks who are in tune enough to get a sense of things. Just read of the two horses dying in the Idaho race on July 10 (espn.com). There's no way I could watch racing again. I am so heartbroken over Barbaro, and I am praying continuously for his recovery.

Posted by: Jane at July 17, 2006 5:15 AM

Barbaro will always have my love-I just hope they are careful about changing his cast seems that was the reason he develpoed that infection-he should be more cautious because if there if he gets another infection and he puts more weight on another foot -I cant go there I just pray he isnt too hasty and is more cautious-I know he had a fever before why cant they check his vital signs and do less cast changes like in the beginning? he must have thought he was in the clear-he needs to really be careful now!!!!

Thanks so much for maintaining it for all of us whose lives this incredible boy has touched. He's special indeed, and my prayer is for comfort and peace for Bobby and all his human connections. Thank you, Alex, and Tim Woolley Racing for keeping us all connected!

Posted by: margaret from sc at July 17, 2006 5:43 AM

Connie, I know what you mean. I don't think there is anything more wonderful than watching an animal perform at its best. However, when things go wrong, it's just too ugly and heart wrenching. Two more (that we know of) were injured today. Two others died on July 10th. A lovely QH filly broke both of her fore legs in a race a few weeks ago. I really wish there was a way to determine the potential for a break down before a horse even starts training. Let's hope Polytrack is an answer.

Margaret, I feel for what you went through with your pony. My quarter horse foundered, for the third time, nine years ago. He rotated 26 degrees and sunk on the right front. Left front rotated about 16 degrees. Only rotated a few degrees in each hind. It took a year to get him pasture sound. If he didn't have such a huge heart, I'm sure he wouldn't have made it. That's why I have such hope for Barbaro. The will to live doesn't show on a radiograph.

I HAVE THE MICHAEL MATZ INTERVIEW THAT WAS SHOWN ON ESPN THIS AFTERNOON.

At this moment for some reason I can't seem to put it into windows media encoder--to shrink the size of the video. The video is 43 mgs, too much bandwidth for here.

I will try again to see if I can get this too work.

    NOW ABOUT THE SLING

It's not great but this isn't the end of the world either. Bobby needs some extra help taking the weight off his feet. The sling allows him to do this without falling over.
Think of it as an assitant device. I know it can cause future problems but lets not worry ourselves about that at this time. These next weeks are critical for Bobby.

In time when Bobby is ready you may see him wean himselve from the sling.

I thought alot about what Dr R said on Thurs, and I watched that cbs3 video (which I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND watching if you haven't done so)and thinking it through for yourselves. Just take some time. Try to see it from Bobby's point right now and don't worry about what hasn't happened yet--cause it might not.

Does anyone have an address for Michael Matz? I think it would be encouraging for him to have some cards. What an exceptional person.

Can we have a special prayer vigil when Barbaro gets his cast changed?

Jeanette, I love your thoughts and prayers. They are always so heartfelt and beautifully stated. I will light another candle right away.

I am praying that the pastern bone and joint are healing perfectly and that the infection is gone.
I pray the left hind hoof is healing nicely and that the "L" infection is going, going, gone. The bone is pushing up back into place beautifully. Jesus, please put a hedge of protection around Barbaro and around each leg and hoof, and please prevent any infection from even coming near Barbaro. Thank you for his continued strength and please keep him pain-free. Please always be there with Dr. Richardson and give him your healing power and help him to stay positive and persistent, and help Michael and Edgar and Mr. and Mrs. Jackson to have happiness and finally joy when Barbaro is completely healed.

If you would like Reiki sent to your little one please post his name. :)

Asked Barbaro for permission to send him energy tonight. As happened during the vigil, I felt a strong flow of heat at the stifle and pastern of the left leg.

Someone asked what to send Bobby for treats. I had posted earlier that someone who sees the big guy every day said he does not care for apples or oranges. Alie, I had asked them to try oranges because my two mares just love them (Clementines preferably). They can smell them clear across the barn, my one mare starts drooling and nickering. That's when I found out Bobby doesn't like apples or oranges, but does like horse treats with molasses, but doesn't get many. So...Stud Muffins, Mrs. Pastures horse treats both have molasses and are better for horses than peppermint candies. Also, Buckeye Feeds makes peppermint flavored treats that are good for horses (they also make apple, carrot and licorice flavored). Manna Pro makes peppermint and butterscotch flavored horse treats too. There's also a bran mixture (already made up in a recloseable bag) that has old fashioned peppermints, molasses, herbs, dried flowers and other good stuff that horses love. The bran mix, the Buckeye peppermints and I think Mrs. Pastures can be ordered from SmartPakequine.com or some feed/tack stores carry them. All good healthy stuff. Stud Muffins are sweet feed.

    Alex and everyone:
I tried. Honest I've spent the past couple of hours trying to get this puter to shrink that video clip of Michael's interview with Jeannine. I could try to get the audio transcript--it won't be the same but it's the best I can do.

If anyone has any suggestions (this file is now about 50 mgs)on how to shrink this so I can get to you that would be appreciated.

Otherwise we'll have to wait and see if ESPN will in all their wisdom put the WHOLE interview up at their website.

Sleep well Bobby boy, don't let those snoring goats next door keep you up.

"Vigil - auntes" continue to send energy to heal your little footsies, and soothe your mind. You've given Dr. Dean a chance to catch up on some sleep, so he will no doubt be extra sharp and brimming with intuition to assess your case bright and (yawn) early Monday.

Sling or no sling, you are a lucky boy, it's been quite a journey since you and Edgar were left behind in the dust. I'll always be haunted by that image of you all revved up but wheeling around scanning the crowd, crying out for help, a sign, and then, there came Edgar.

So glad to hear you had another good nights rest. That is going to help you heal too. Eat all the right foods, not too much junk(I know you love your mints, but don't overdo them), and get plenty of rest, and you will see how you feel so good. Just keep up the good work and use your sling when you get tired, that's what it's there for to ease your discomfort. Remember, I BELIEVE IN YOU- ALWAYS! God has a plan for you, and it is a long range one. Stay happy and positive little friend. I'm on my way to the post office to send you something now. That you don't let show

Lean on me, when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    'Til I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

If there is a load you have to bear
    That you can't carry
    I'm right up the road
    I'll share your load
    If you just call me

So just call on me brother, when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on

Lean on me when you're not strong
    And I'll be your friend
    I'll help you carry on
    For it won't be long
    Till I'm gonna need
    Somebody to lean on

    Lean on me...

Alex...I wonder if you know how many of us depend on you? I check this site first thing in the morning, several times all day, last thing before bed at night...and know that I'm priviledged to have access to the best, most current, most accurate information about Barbaro and his team. Many, many thanks. I will remember you and Tim Woolley Racing.

Great news again this morning,I can breathe today..I hope the left leg will be showing positive signs when checked...But I guess as long as his vitals are good its an indication he is progressing..I HOPE...

Dr. R. doesn't seem to think so.....
    What do you think???

    Good morning,

Just wanted to let you all know I send New Orleans pralines to the staff at NBC.

Alex and crew: Thank You for this wonderful site. I start work at 7 a.m. at Fort Bragg, NC and have gotten several military cohorts totally in tune at 7 a.m. awaiting for updates...can't turn the computers on quick enough. From one group of warriors to an even bigger ONE - go Barbaro! :-)

Florian, Laminitis is a quickly deteriorating disease, hence, the thought of euthanasia within 24 hours from Thursday. Barbaro is FIGHTING HARD and the fact he is comfortable this morning is a WONDERFUL sign. For any horse to be stable 4 days following announcement of the worse case of laminitis is a miracle in itself. Keep praying for him, the positive energy is obviously working.

Good morning, Bobby: My day just started and it couldn't be better, knowing that you're comfortable and had a good night. The rest of the day I'll be focused on you, as I always am, saying prayers and lighting candles for your healing. Keep your head up high and stay alert of those goats next to you. Enjoy the gifts you receive today they should be on their way. xoxoxo

Well three days of stable conditions. This is something to be greatful for and thankful for. Now I want to hear of "improvements" to Barbaro's condition.

    Love to all

I love the name "Brother's Keeper" for Barbaro's baby brother and I missed the reference to Man in Havana - read the book too long ago. Wonder what the horse's stable name is...

Thanks for the links to all the great articles. After swearing to not watch horseracing again post Preakness, it's been really beneficial to read of all the fine people involved in the sport and their love for the horses. I'll watch with my eyes partially covered from now on and remember the terrific folks here and involved all over the country.

He said Bobby J. had a restful night and repeated some of the same comments from his press conference.

    Good Morning All.

Another comfortable night for you Special One. I'll take reports like this every day. Your friend Alex said that you may get a cast change this week. I know, not again, but you know it's for the best. Your buddy, Dr R., knows what to do and you trust him. Remember, we'll be there for you in heart and spirit as well.

    Make it another good day.

Sally, I'm in louisiana also. I was wondering if there was someone else from here. Very thoughtful of you to send pralines. I doubt if they get many of those up there. Anyway, so glad to hear Bobby is doing good today, thanks Alex! Hope Bobby and everyone has a good day.cindy a.

    Tim,

Thanks so much for the instant updates! It is clear you are jumping off your horse and posting from the barn as soon as you hear some news.

There are thousands and thousands of us getting updates from your blog over at the racing forum at www.chronofhorse.com and several long threads devoted to Barbaro.

    Thanks again...

    and Go Barbaro!

    Sally and Cindy,

I am Louisiana born and breed. I no longer live in our lovely state.

Posted by: Donna at July 17, 2006 1:21 PM

Cathy, sorry to ruin the "image" (jumping off a horse to provide updates), but when I get an early update I call a friend, Jen, who then updates the site :)

Thanks Donna. Has anyone heard if Dr. R has given Barbaro any better of a prognosis?? Or is he still labelling Barbaro in the same condition as Thursday? I am praying he comes on at some point this week and tells us all of a miracle taking place. At least raising his condition a few notches with more hope....
Trainer for my racehorse called me this a.m. from Aqueduct giving me an update on his schooling and getting into the gate (as well as some other topics as he usually does not call on a daily basis). All I could talk to him about was Barbaro.....

Good Morning Barbaro - another good night - excellent. Rest and relax today - eat good food - no junk today. You have a cast change coming up and you need to be in tip top shape.

My prayers are with you 24/7. xxoo and scratchies.

Very good news, Alex, thank you.

Barbaro, take it easy on this hot day! Lot's of love coming your way. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed that tomorrow's cast change (if it happens) yields the news that your pastern joint on your right leg is healing.

    Love you!!

    Shannon and Zeena,

"Brothers Keeper" is cool. Last night I woke up many times ( as I am sure we all do) and my thoughts kept going to this little guys name. I did not see your post until this morning but "brother" as part of the name was in my head too. I thought of names like:

    He's My Brother

    Bobby's Hopeful

    OnthewingsofBobby

    Another Chance

    Bobby's Dreamer

    It'sOurDestiny

    Bobby's Finish

    Two Hearts

    Brothertobrother

Anyway..poor little guy has big shoes to fill. HA HA Another one! "BIGSHOES" LOL
Just something to pass the time while we wait.

Try to relax for the cast change recovery Big B...I know that this is all getting real old for you. But you can do it!!
