    Barbaro Updates: 34

    updates are now here.

Update 368: Just spoke to Peter Brette. He was waiting to hear from Michael Matz, who is visiting Barbaro later this evening, once he is out of the sling. At the time of my call with Peter, Peter assumed all was well (8pm). The following is a nice article which is basically an interview with Peter: Barbaro's Rider Reminisces, Keeps The Faith. The following is the beginning of the article:

"He was a bigger, stronger, better athlete than any horse I ever sat on before," said Brette, who resides in New London. "He was so well balanced. He was very intelligent. You would show him things once and he had it down.
"I remember a training session early this year in Florida when another horse came by him, and he just took off. It was like driving a Porsche. You put your foot down, and he bumps you right up. That was the sensation. I said something like, "Good God, he's getting stronger and stronger."
Brette says it was the Florida Derby where Barbaro evolved from a boy to a man.

    Wonderful news, Alex~ thank you...

regarding the upcoming vote and PMU foals,
politics (whether knowingly corrupt or believing to be in the right) + pharmaceutical companies with deep pockets (that we -as a nation- fill, I might add) + horses = support for slaughter to continue.

Premarin isn't the only medication using horse hormones, if I'm not mistaken.

of course there are other contributing factors, but deep pockets speak loudly.

Alex, thanks for the update, and the interview with Peter Brette. He said what we have all thought so many times -- that it would be so much better to show the Derby footage than the Preakness footage. Too bad the tv stations think that all anyone ever wants to see is accidents.

I am truly overwhelmed by the support that everyone has shown to both Skyler and me.

Little did I know that our small quest to do something for Barbaro would bring so much back to us through your collective show of friendship and caring.

As you may now know, Skyler is the steady, level headed one, I am the heart-on-her-sleeve, emotional one. I guess that's why today's events hurt so much.

I don't feel bad for myself, I feel bad that someone could have done this to Barbaro. This was for him and for the Jackson's and for all of you. A tangible sign of our love for Barbaro.

As I said, Skyler is the "brains" behind this operation and she will come up with a brilliant plan of action.

    Keep your fingers crossed....
    We're moving forward....
....and we're doing this for Barbaro.

    LISA & SKYLER,

Sorry this is late. I've just scrambled through posts after reading about the brouhaha with the bracelets.

I know something about copyright. A creative work belongs to the artist from the moment it was SAVED in any form, eg. on your computer. This constitutes LEGAL COPYRIGHT, regardless of registering it or not. I expect that you have a date for the first time you saved a photo of the original design. At the very least there would be the earliest date at which you emailed a photo of it to anyone.

Whatever other bracelet is being disseminated - unless it was IDENTICAL to yours and was SAVED earlier than yours - belongs to that person. Yours is safely copyrighted by you.

Hope this helps. Please go forward with the bracelets you've been working on. I'm sure the Barbaromaniacs will hang in with you. I know I will.

    Hugs,
    Mirth

    For inspirational Bobby Barbaro--
Rest this evening & enjoy all the hugs & love!

To Linda A. in Oregon, and other poets sending how Barbaro has affected you...Thank you!!! We could not have done the poems and verse without consulting our Barbaro first. He is a major influence on everybody's lives including you "tough guys" (like me Wm says) out there. It is great to see others gents on this board too!!

So, wives get your hubbies to comment. We want to hear what they have to say...its important to Barbaro's healing process. For starters, there is nothing wrong about expressing your inner thoughts briefly how Barbaro's impacted your family's life. Believe us, it's a whole lot healthier to talk here than spends thousands of dollars with a therapist.

Great chance to help each other! These past few weeks have brought greater understanding and compassion about what thoroughbred champions and jockeys endure that any place else!!!

So men, come in, and feel free to express yourselves too!!!

Since our family a generation before was involved in Delaware's Racing Commission we find this is our time to give back and help change the face and direction of horseracing to bring it back into a positive course where everyone can enjoy the sport once again. By helping Barbaro, we help our humanity to never forget what goes around comes around! Jockeys and these champions deserve our respect!!!

Recently, read where California's Horse Racing Board is now taking positve action to replace the
dirt tracks with synthetic ones at Hollywood, San Anita, Delmar, Los Alamitos, Bay Meadows, and Golden Gate in months to come. But this is not soon enough as witnessed by 17 fatal breakdowns at Chicago's racetracks in July alone.

Please have husband, boyfriends (who are US citizens take a moment to help make a positive difference by stopping into www.campaignforbarbaro.com and clicking on the mission sidebar. It takes you directly to the
petitiononline.com where your electronic vote counts. We have over 490 signatures now including extra 140 under #411, so keep those votes coming for Barbaro's effect to make that difference!!!

And tell us your story there of what Barbaro means to you and how he is changing your life!!!
You'll already find some pretty amazing stories worth reading!!!

Barbaro will thank you to when you visit nodding his approval with a bow and a wink!!!

Continue bonding on the message board with LOL to keep spirits uplifted!

What a day! Today I turned 50. For weeks my family & friends have been questioning me as to how I wanted to celebrate my birthday. For the longest time I did not have a response. But then one day it just came to me. I wanted to be responsible for sending Barbaro his "Barbaromaniac" treat basket today.
I have been so happy today just thinking of Barbaro munching on a carrot from the basket I ordered. I don't know why, but as soon as I had talked with KF & ordered the basket, I have been walking around smiling & singing to myself. It's been so funny to listen to people remark how I am not bothered by my 50th birthday. And as they are talking, I'm picturing Barbaro just munching away.
    Amazing this "Barbaro" effect!

    HELLO EVERYONE!

    IN REGARD TO HORSE SAFETY..

Joe Harper (President and General Manager of Del Mar responds to campaigningforbarbaro.com. He did give us permission to post his response in regard to Josey Jeff.
    Here it is...

Thank you for taking the time to write to me about the breakdowns.
Believe me, we are as upset as anyone with this rash of injuries. J.J.'s trainer said afterwards that the track wasn't at fault and that he just took a bad step. The ambulance was dispatched within seconds of the horse being injured but the wet ground made it impossible to drive up the slope to the grass track. A splint was applied and the horse was taken to the ambulance. Not what we wanted to happen but it was the only way to get the horse into the ambulance. We have since figured out a way to solve that problem. A hard lesson to learn for all of us.

I wish I could put my finger on any one reason but to tell you the truth there are many factors. Prior injuries that have gone unnoticed.

We are seeing evidence of this in studying the legs of horses that have
been euthanized at all the California tracks over the years.

The noted columnist, Andy Beyer, recently wrote an article that spoke
of a breeding industry that bred more for speed than endurance.
The number of racing days. Too many in my opinion.
Overcrowding on Del Mar's stable area. This puts a very large number of horses on the track in the morning. Especially after the
renovations. The horsemen are cooperating and spreading out their works.
Too many sore horses.....This, in my opinion, is the #1 reason. Our vets check every horse that is entered. This is done in the morning.
They look at past performances and check x-rays if available. They take the horse out of the stall and check his legs. If there is any doubt
about the soundness of the horse it is scratched. And we are doing this with three vet this year instead of the usual two.
The new synthetic track that we will put in for next year's meet will go a long way to solving many of these problems. It is a very forgiving
track. The breakdowns are greatly reduced where this product has been
    in operation.

I hope this answers a few of your concerns. Please know that no one cares more about the well being of the horses than the crew of people we have working here.

    Joe Harper

    ALEX please,
How can I view the video link you gave us a few weeks ago of Barbaro Training at Fair Hill? I saved the link from YouTube, I get to the site, but it says this video is no longer availabe because of "copyright infringement". I loved that video because you could hear Peter talking to Barabaro while he's riding him. It's one of my favorite. Is there anyway you post again?

Barbaro, hoping for to get another update tonight, but in the meantime, may God continue to protect and heal you, and keep you comfortable. I pray believing and expecting more good reports tomorrow. Have a good night "chipper nipper"!

Well, here is a link to a BBC news site -- unrelated to Barbaro, but funny, in case someone needs cheering up. At least, I thought it was funny. It was sent by a friend whose sister lives in England.

    ** Message **
    Oh dear! Bad dog!

    ** Dog destroys £40,000 Elvis teddy **
A £40,000 teddy bear formerly owned by Elvis Presley is destroyed when a guard dog goes on the rampage.

I am very glad see that Del Mar's Mr Harper took some time to respond to CampaignBarbaro. It is indeed good news that they WILL be going Poly for the next season.

And I am in total agreement with him on some of the other points he made about finding reasons for the breakdowns, and racing reforms. He seems to be heading in the right direction, as far as I am concerned. Push is shove! Good work!

There is a May 27, 2006 MSNBC article by Travis Stone, that I recently re-read. It talks about much of the same subject, and the fact that they are racing horses TOO YOUNG. It makes strong points. You can find it by typing:

There is yet a lot of work to do, Dear Boy...but look...see...here comes the turn... Go Barbaro, Go!

Who puts a dog in charge of teddy bears, anyway?!

Maybe it was one of those musical bears, and when he sniffed it, he pushed the button in the belly that played, "Im'All Shook Up."

It also helps to push the safe track issue. He admitted that it would make a big difference. I wish we could show that to all the jerks on the other sites that say new track surfaces are not needed.

    Dear Hearts:

This morning, on a local radio talk show, the two hosts gave a little update on Barbaro. Previously when their news network broke the news about Barbaro's new battle with "L", those guys had joked about why anyone would be interested in in a "broken-down-racehorse". They said things like, "...it's JUST a horse."

Today's comments were a whole lot kinder, and the update was short, but, they did speak with respect.

I E-mailed the program director to thank him. I also invited him to look at our site. Celeb and Media endorsement is good for the cause.

Hello Fellow BARBARO Lovers, I really don't consider myself a "manic" just b/c I LOVE THIS HORSE!(I know it is just a "phrase") I consider anyone who doesn't love BARBARO, somewhat lacking in their "humanitarian skills"!! That being "said", I wanted to respond to Wm.& Cl.'s posting on how husband/family have reacted to our BARBARO lovers, ways. Being a native New York'r(city, I'm talking!) I grew up w/a love for horses! My husband's work transferred our family out of my 212 area code, yet our love of horses followed us.Since the transfer,my husband travels a great deal, but as a good husband when he calls home from wherever he is,is 1st ? is ,"How is BARBARO doing ? " He follows the situation as best he can & when he is home, he has really helped me make my scrap book on MY BARBARO.Our daughter, who has married & moved out of state, wants updates on OUR BOY! MY sister, who has no computer( can you imagine that!) I have to call daily w/ your sites updates. So as far as I'm concerned,my family is "into" Barbaro, using me as their conduit, but "this site" is my conduit" for my family's concern/prayers for OUR BOY!!!! Thx.for this site!! As Wm. & Cl. have written,it's a healthier than a therapist!!!

Rest this evening & enjoy all the hugs & love!
Thank you Alex for Peter Brette's story about how Barbaro's strength is so much a part of him as he heals that hoof (Barbaro Nation saying rest, heal legs, grow healthy hoof)...

To Linda A. in Oregon, and other poets sending how Barbaro has affected you...Thank you!!! We could not have done the poems and verse without consulting our Barbaro first. He is a major influence on everybody's lives including you "tough guys" (like me Wm says) out there. It is great to see others gents on this board too!!

Wives, get your hubbies to comment. We want to hear what they have to say...its important for Barbaro's healing process! There IS NOTHING WRONG expressing your inner thoughts briefly how Barbaro's impacted your family's life. Believe us -- it's a whole lot healthier to talk here than pouring thousands of dollars into a therapist.

Great chance to help each other! These past few weeks have brought greater understanding and compassion about what thoroughbred champions and jockeys endure that any place else!!!

All men, come in, and feel free to express yourselves too!!! Think Alex is trying to tell us its okay to have strong feelings about our horses and special animal best buds! (The ladies don't bite, just Barbaro when he wants something....).

Since our family -- a generation before -- was Delaware's Horse Racing Commissioners, we find this is our time to help positvely change horseracing's face and direction.

United, can we make it so everyone can enjoy the sport once again! By helping Barbaro, we help our humanity! Never forget what goes around comes around! Jockeys and Champion thoroughbreds deserve our respect!!

Finally, California's Horse Racing Board starting to replace (somewhat slowly their old
dirt tracks with synthetic ones at Hollywood, San Anita, Delmar, Los Alamitos, Bay Meadows, and Golden Gate in months to come. But this is not soon enough -- as witnessed by 17 fatal breakdowns at Chicago's racetracks in July alone. Horatio Nelson (my namesake) should never had to leave us. We have the means to stop it!
Congress needs to see we won't stand for any more fatal or needless injuries!

Please -- grandparents, husbands, wives, parents, boyfriends, and girlfriends (all US citizens)-- take a moment to help make a positive difference by stopping into www.campaignforbarbaro.com and clicking on the mission sidebar. It takes you directly to www.petitiononline.com
where your electronic vote counts. We have over 490 signatures now including extra 140 under #411, so keep those votes coming for Barbaro's effect to make his difference -- safer, better futures are his, yours, and next generations!
We can no longer say "that's horseracing."

Tell your story there of what Barbaro means to you and how he is changing your life!!!
You'll already find some PRETTY AMAZING TRUE STORIES WORTH READING!!!Barbaro will thank you to when you visit nodding his approval with a bow and a wink!!!

Continue bonding on the message board with LOL to keep spirits uplifted!
EVEN BARBARO HAS A LIGHTER SIDE (so we see giving shoulder lovebites when noone's looking)!

THIS is why I created the Carrot Posse: spankings, veggies, fuits, meats--yes Lynda there was a sausage on earlier-- and now............the elvis, bear eatin dobie. TEEEHEEEEEEEEEE!!! Maybe the killer dobie can go to NBC. Do they have a psychiatric wing? Poor dobie, one of the celebrity teddies must have sent him over the edge. Only in the Carrot Posse can these things be explored.

As for all other Posse inquiries. No application necessary. You may use any kind disguise. You can be a ham sandwich, a sugar cube or a teddy hating dobie. Any disguise to get us into NBC will do.

You just have to pledge to not tell anyone we met on this site--out of respect to Alex, Tim and all the posters with dignity. Also you have to be prepared for some negativity. Some folks don't like this kind of humor. Sally is Captain Carrot, I'm the Posse Village Idiot. There are other postions available.

Last but not least the Posse's main job is to stay positive no matter what. We are here to support all our fellow maniacs, even when they get snippy. If we can keep the site positive, we have the power to help the nipper heal. We have one goal. To see Bobby walk out of NBC while we cry and cheer at the gate.

    Good night all

It seems I am not alone in my admiration/fondness for Dr. R. For those who are interested (Cheryl from Indy), there is a great article from the Philadelphia Inquirer on Barbaro's doctor.

It can be found at http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/14683315.htm

I live about 30 mins. from the New Bolton Center and I keep hoping I'll run into him somewhere or get the opportunity to meet him. He's obviously a very caring doctor and special person to do all he has done for Barbaro and he humbly sort of shrugs it off as just doing his job. That may be his job, but you can tell he genuinely feels for Barbaro and his well being.

Here's to another comfortable and restful night for Barbaro!

On the MSNBC page that has the Travis Stone commentary are some Triple Crown photo links. They are quite remarkable.

I especially love the look on Barbaro's face in photo #11, titled, "A Job Well Done." He looks so happy. It is taken right after the win, when he is still running.

Also wonderful are photos # 12, titled," A Sign of the Times," Hee's So-oooo proud of himself, and photo #13, titled, "Teriffic Trio", with Edgar, Mike and Roy.

To find it, just type :
Opinion: Time to change how horses bred, raised -Horse Racing into your MSN search space.

It is a May 27th commentary from MSNBC.

The article is very pertainent, and the photos are beautiful.

I rarely post, but I am so thankful for everyone that has put their heart and soul into this site (that includes all of you Barbaromaniacs), and I am so glad that Barbaro is continuing to show his huge spirit and will to win.

Also, on the issue of synthetic tracks, don't know if its been mentioned before but I believe that the CA legislature passed a rule saying that all tracks in California that want racing dates have to have synthetic surfaces installed I think by the end of 2007. Hollywood Park is going first, then I think Del Mar and Santa Anita for Southern CA, don't know the schedule for the No.Cal. tracks. The horsepeople (trainers, etc.) pushed it through. They really do care about their horses.

    Go Barbaro!

Posted by: Pamela at August 4, 2006 3:26 AM

    Yes, produce.

This is a long story, so work with me here --

I was wondering earlier, you know, what people dressed as carrots use for feet.

Sally said maybe we could sit in pots in a cart and be pushed by the guys on the website -- dressed as bunnyrabbits.

I said oh, great...finally we have men on the site and you want to dress them as BUNNYRABBITS?

She said...or Greek gods or football players; help me out here.

Then we got "sidetracked" by the bracelet discussion -- real life rearing its ugly head.

So the question still stands -- should the guys push us in a cart, since carrots don't have feet?

I think she's right -- they need to be dressed as something manly. So how about Produce Men? "Excuse me, little lady, I'm a Produce Man. I'm going to push your cart."

    Help me out here.

    Hi Lynda,

The posse was my idea, but I don't make the decisions, I think the maniacs should decide.
Let's make this democratic: if the Carrot Posse is too silly or crazy for this site, please feel free to tell us.

I don't think that any Posse member will want to offend others. Feel free to ask the Posse to set up it's veggie/fuit stand elsewhere.

Lynda the reason I hesitate is because I don't want any maniac to think that we are a click. It's meant to be open to all and some posters have commented how much they enjoy the Posse's ridiculous plans.

Your suggestion shows your thoughtfulness. So folks, if y'all are sick of the veggies, no problem, I'm sure the Posse will stop with the Posse banter on this site.

Grow hoof grow, fuse bones fuse. Sleep well champ.

Posted by: Otherlyn at August 4, 2006 3:32 AM

Lisa, as I posted earlier to Skyler, the same applies to you--You are indeed, a most classy individual.

It disgusts me to no end that someone would steal the wonderful ideas and works of the kind hearts you and Skyler truely are. I am so disgusted, I sleuthed around for some time on the web (even borrowed Alex's trenchcoat :), but really with no satisfactory result.
The best I've come up with was Googling ("believe in barbaro" bracelet) which showed 3 result:
    1) to another message board were an individual was excited to be receiving a baby blue "Believe
in Barbaro" bracelet soon (around July 14)--doesn't sound like your (Lisa and Skyler) bracelet design.
I did note that in reading the posts in that "stream", that that board, too, is sending gifts and "nourishment" to NBC through Kennett Florist's--it is wonderful that many in different places, in different ways are helping and thoughtful toward Barbaro and his NBC care givers.
2 &3) were links to this web site re posts where the concept and design of the bracelets are
    discussed.

So, I really did not find anything (I am surely not the worlds best googler) tangible--but needed to try. I did find however, many forums with many people expressing many hopes, wishes, and prayers for Barbaro's
    well being and recovery--very heartwarming.

I truly respect and share your feelings of heartbreak and disappointment; however, at the risk of sticking my foot in my mouth (it won't be the first time nor the last (this ol' dog is isn't into learning new tricks),
I do want to offer a couple of (okay, three) thoughts and beliefs:

    1) the copy (knockoff) is never, ever as good as the original (and especially so when the original was conceived by kinds hearts for the good of life. The idea is not tainted--and, an original conceived in the heart cannot "look like" copies. Additionally, copies do not carry the positive spirit and love of your original.

    2) bad does not find those who do everything right--you guys are doing it right! Obtaining the approval of the most compassionate Jacksons for this endeavor is correct in every sense.

    3) I sincerely hope that you and Skyler do receive the appropriate approval to continue, and that the two of you do in fact go forward with your most worthy efforts For if you don't, many of us here, and our friends, relatives, and co-workers, and acquaintances, will go without something I see as the closest physical connection we might ever have to most extraordinary being, Barbaro. Moreover, I see your bracelets as having the positive energies of love, compassion, pride. And they sound cool, too. Finally, the people that we encounter every day will inquire about the lovely bracelets, and many will find out for the
first time (as Barbaromaniacs are truly sharing souls) current news about the heroic Barbaro (amaizingly many are not aware), and many will find out about racing injuries and efforts to reduce them, and many will find out about the cruelty of horse slaughter and the efforts to eliminate that huge blackmark on American culture. And not to forget the Barbaro fund either.

Lisa and Skyler, I see so much good resulting from your efforts, I hope you receive the Jackson's appoval, and that the two of you decide to continue.

    Dear Ones,

You can jump into the cliqe...because here in Barbaro's Matrix...there IS no clique.

There are Alex's updates, and reports about Barbaro that we crave, every day, to hear.

There is discussion of all things that are his work...his mission of destiny...to make victories happen.

There are people adding their faith to that of others, praying for a healing for our beloved Barbaro.

There are people sharing information on 'all-things-horse.

There is art and beauty, and fellowship.

There are stories...testamonies to the power of Love, and Courage, and Faith.

And there is humor...and laughter, and silliness...encouraged, especially at the end of the day, simply to send a good vibe of happy energy to our Boy.

You are all part of it...Sillies, Grumpys, Boys and Girls.

All because we love Barbaro. Bear with us...Love bears all things.

ERNIE...you are a lot quicker than I was...I was surprised that someone would even use it, but we were discussing the bracelet thief so I think it was appropriate...( me laughing ironically)

I had not ordered the bracelets, either, because I was away. I was told by someone, just tell Lisa when she is online. So I did, earlier today, but it was when it was all going on, so she may not have noticed that I asked to be put on the list. I'll probably tell her again later when things are more calm.

    Posted by: Marilyn/CA at August 4, 2006 4:07 AM

It is Ernie...much nicer...I was like "Is that what I think it is?" Oh, my...there are some things even I won't do..LOL

Wow...I've been trying to catch up on all the posts! It's sure been busy here today!

First, thank you, God for another comfortable day for our beloved Barbaro. Please continue to watch over him, his caregivers, and his family and friends, so many of which are here on this wonderful website.

Good Job, Sweet Barbaro! Keep up the good work!

Lisa and Skylar, I echo the sentiments of our Barbaro Nation, and I would still like the 5 bracelets that I ordered, please. Honersnme@aol.com

Marilyn/CA - Welcome Back! Thank you too for the tips on how to reach the website when out of town. I'm headed for Kentucky in a month and I've been wondering what I'm going to do without my lifeline to our Barbaro World.

AND...my Walter actually "ran" a little bit tonight! (Well, maybe it was more like a "skip"). She stepped it up to get around the dog, and I was shocked and delighted to see her do this. I am so grateful to you and everyone for your support of healing my kitty.

Good Night, Dear Barbaro. Have "another comfortable night".

Good Night, Team Barbaro! Best wishes to all of you!

    Love, Sue xoxox

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 4:34 AM

    DebbieB
Sorry, things were really flying there for awhile. Just saw your last question. I don't really know that Lisa comes on at any particular time. Just here and there, a couple of times a day. I think she and Skyler are pretty distracted right now -- understandably. I have a feeling their next post may be more info about the situation with the bracelets; so I know what you mean -- I don't really know when is the best time to put in our names. People have been saying all day that they would like to be on the list, but I don't know how much of that Lisa can have seen, considering everything that is going on with the bracelets.

    Posted by: Marilyn/CA at August 4, 2006 4:39 AM

    My website is up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was a beast. I spent the day working on it cause it just wouldn't upload. Yyyiiipppeeee!!!!

I should tell you that a lot of the photos are ones from here, UPENN, and a couple from Barbara Livingston.

I failed to mention there to play fair but this is an absolute must. You may download for personal use but not to sell or in any way make a dime off of these photographers.

If I find out that someone is filching I will passprotect the site and then you can only enter with a password. I will not allow what happened to Lisa and Skyler to happen to the photographers.

I wouldn't think I'd need to give a warning like that but then none of us ever thought that someone would steal Lisa and Skyler's bracelet plan.

If you happen to see a photo that I have, you took it and I haven't mentioned you here (and you want credit) please write me. I do want to acknowledge you.

Many thanks also to Lyn for sending me Gallant Secret's story. You can find that on p2 of my site.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:18 AM

YES SHANNON and ZEENZ...I emailed KF FLORISTS about the disgusting state of the bracelet affair !!!! THE MORE PEOPLE EMAIL KF FLORISTS ABOUT IT ....THE STRONGER THE CASE FOR OUR BARBAROMANIAC BRACELETS FROM LISA and SKYLER...
    THAT'S MY FEELING ANYWAY ????

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 5:19 AM

Shannon - Why are you a sausage? You didn't want to be a carrot, mint, grape....... Do horses like sausage?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:19 AM

Yea what's up with that, using the same idea for the bracelets. She sure wasn't a friend of this site, and no friend of the Barbaro team either!!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:20 AM

SORRY FOR THE TYPO...ZEENA...IT'S LATE HERE 1:20am...

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 5:20 AM

Shannon - Wait, who the heck is Donna? I can't spend all my time here just to stay on top of things. I feel so left behind?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:21 AM

Debbie: When they were discussing costumes, I said I couldnt be a carrot or a peppermint, because when faced with a tight fighting outfit I look like a "sausage" lol

Maribel: If you talk to KF be sure to ask if the bracelets had the horse head imprint on them, Lisa and Skylers did.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:22 AM

Oh shoot! I have nearly ate the entire tub of ice cream!!!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:22 AM

Shannon you could be my fellow grape!!!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:23 AM

Shannon that is pretty funny. I guess I would have to be a pear than. I think I am getting that Donna is the rat. Who is she?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:24 AM

Here is quick rundown of what happened,

Rachel from Kennet Florists popped in to drop her daily update, she said they had received a package from Donna in NY, the bag was full of blue and green bracelets that said " Believe in Miracles, Believe in Barbaro" and that she delivered them to Dr.Sweeney, who in turn handed them out to the staff at NBC.

Someone named Donna from NY, Usurped Lisa and Skylars idea.

    And thats all I know.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:24 AM

It's ok Maribel, you can call me Shannon, Zeena is tuckered out on her blankey, she wont mind.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:25 AM

I am thinking mabe Lisa should not have emailed ANYONE the proof until she got it okayed by the jacksons and copyrighted. I bet that there won't be anything she can do about it.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:26 AM

SHANNON and ZEENA...I already emailed them !!! Itried to get LISA to email me the prototype bracelet but I guess she didn't see my email!!! Do you have it??? Can you email it to me???

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 5:26 AM

Lynda was that a pint or a gallon? I am such a bad/slow typist I could never eat at the same time. Maybe that is a good thing. Also, a grape costume would not be tight fitting. Only head, arms and legs would show. That could work for someone who is not a stick figure, namely me.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:27 AM

    Maribel I have it

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:27 AM

    Debbie it's one pint.

Grapes work with anyone! I didn't want to be one grape so I decided to be a cluster...just stick them all over me.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:28 AM

Good evening Everyone and Wonderful Bobby

Always last but not least, I am here to wish sweet dreams to the Magnificent One! You! Bobby!

Lay down and rest those legs and feet, and dream of romping in green lush pastures soon!

This is such a wonderful loving group of people, all pulling for you, Barbaro!

    Good dreams and starstreams.

    Lynda ....here is my email

    ladue@execulink.com THANKS!!!!!

I think LISA and SKYLER were overwhelmed with requests and couldn't keep up !!!!

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 5:29 AM

Lynda: hindsight is 20/20 I dont think any of us, ever imagined something like this would happen. It's just a bummer.

And apparently someone said that once you create something, at home , online etc, and have made it, it is technically yours. Even if you have not finalized the legalities. Sooo..we will see. But one thing I know forsure, Lisa and Skylars bracelets had a indent/imprint of a horses head on them.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:29 AM

You are not last, Emily. There are still several of us posting.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:29 AM

    Shannon
I only started reading and posting a few days ago, but I feel stupid for asking who is Zeena?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:30 AM

    Maribel its on its way

Shannon, I know. It's no one's fault except Donna's. It is too bad that people have to act like this.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:31 AM

Was Donna a regular on here?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:32 AM

Posted by: karann at August 4, 2006 5:32 AM

It's a no brainer, someone was here, reading lurking whatever, emailed her or someone else for a prototype/proof and then ran with it. And Rachel was obviously under the impression that it was our gals bracelets because otherwise she would not of come online to let us know they had been delivered. No I am no sherlock holmes, but common sense dictates.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:33 AM

Debbie, yea, she was for awhile. I think she is the one who was a business person and she was trying to get something going to raise money for Barbaro. I believe someone said that she was trying to get in with Lisa and Skyler on the bracelet deal, but I am not sure.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:33 AM

lol@karann... Cool... thanks for letting us know!! Put the doggy to bed :)

Debbie: Zeena is my 7 or 8 yr old german shep, I rescued her 4 years ago. She is super smart and well.. she thinks is a person.. what dog doesnt. And since I started posting from me and her for the big guy.. it just stuck..lol

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:36 AM

    How utterly crappy.

Lynda you are right about not showing people the design. I would buy it sight unseen, still will.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:37 AM

Shannon - That is awesome. Pound puppies are the best. I have a Jack/rat terrer ( yes I mean that)
mix. He is 5 now. I have had him for almost 3 years. Life would not be the same without. He is sleeping with my husband while I am here.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:39 AM

I wonder how many carrotts a chiauaua can eat this guy has eaten 1/2 a pk and wants more he knows he is sharing my love with barbaro. He is a little nipper too, my husband comes to say goodnight and he growls at him. BUSTER AND BARBARO HAVE MY HEART STUPID KEYBOARD

Posted by: karann at August 4, 2006 5:40 AM

Yea. It was neat seeing it, but probably wasn't the best thing. Oh well. There is nothing to do about it now but mabe tell KF that they were fake and they can tell NBC? Who knows.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:40 AM

And once again we end up saying - That is why we like animals better than people. They are loyal, loving, adoring and forgive us all of our faults.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:43 AM

Does anyone know if Ladina ran today at Saratoga? This horse was supposed to run Wednesday, but they canceled, so I don't know whether she was going to race today, or if Michael was going to have to reenter her in another race.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:43 AM

Debbie, sometimes it feels like that. My kittie is always forgiving to me, and I tend to love her more than some people!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:44 AM

If the business/fund person you were thinking of was Susan, no it was not her, She is/was planning on making red and white bracelets and the St Francis medals for fundraising. Which ofcourse being an animal lover, I definately want! So, no, it was not Susan, the persons name was Donna. Someone should send Rachel the picture and ask if it was the same. She had to of seen them .

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:44 AM

Except when she throws up on the floor, she is a perfect cat.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:45 AM

Yea, I know Susan is a business person, but I think Donna was too.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:46 AM

    Lynda and everyone
No, the woman who was also thinking of doing bracelets was Susan Chelini (sp?). She had started planning bracelets before Lisa and Skyler and already has hers done; they are red and white, and she also sells St. Francis medals. She checked in with us today after all the discucssion began. She was not the one. She did not send bracelets to NBC.

    Posted by: Marilyn/CA at August 4, 2006 5:46 AM

lol, zeena eats grass, and then barfs in the dining room. Nice.. she thinks she is a moo cow.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:46 AM

    Hey Lynda P

I just found that if I update the list I get the rest of the news! I guess no one is ever gone from the site, That is great, keeps the love flowing, doesn't it?

Well, this IS my last post for the night, Glad there are folks keeping up the vigil!

Lynda you are right, I forgot to mention there was another Donna was into some business thing, Anyone here have AOL? If so you can look at email id and see if its from NY

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:47 AM

    Lynda
Cats can be funny like that. You always know where you stand with them. I have snakes and they make remarkably good pets as well. They also tend to keep parents/in-laws from visiting too often.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:48 AM

Marilyn/CA: it's ok, we are on the same wavelength..lol

Hi Emily, yes we are here, this is Team Barbaro's night shift.

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:49 AM

Emily, the refresh button is your friend!

Marilyn did you get the email yet? Yea, we know about Susan and she is not the culprit. It was Donna that went behind Lisa and Skyler's back.

Shannon hahaha yea, my cat back in California will do that LOL.

Debbie, yea, cats let you know where you stand. Annie has always been loving to me, though. But she lets me know when to leave her alone. Snakes? Yikes!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:51 AM

Shannon my dog has been eating grass every day for the past few weeks. He doesn't throw up though. I thought they only did that when they did not feel well, but mine seems okay. Maybe Zeena is trying to get your attention away from the computer. Ty, my dog, hates it when I am on.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:52 AM

I wonder why Peter didn't hear from Michael, or he did but didn't get to Alex? That almost disturbs me, but it's probably nothing.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:52 AM

I think grass helps cats barf up their hairballs or something.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:53 AM

Lynda maybe just because it was late. Horse people go to bed early right? Alex said it was about 8 in the last update. No bad thoughts.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:54 AM

I just get nervous about drunks and other nuts on the road.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:54 AM

Zeena just thinks she is a cow.. she eats it all the time ... rarely pukes.. So I am not worried...Yes she misses her momma, but she knows I am right here sending my love to another animal in need. Like she once was...

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:55 AM

Debbie, yea. I used to go to bed at about 8 pm because I had to get up at 4:30 to get to the racetrack by 6. Most people get their earlier, but I was only a hotwalker....

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:55 AM

I love the interviews Alex has been doing lately, Wonder how hard it is to head over to MM's barn and look for Barbaro's grooms. They are the ones with all the stories..they spend alot of time with a horse (grooms)

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 5:57 AM

Shannon you are too funny and I am too tired. I am sitting here imagining a shepherd in a cow outfit barfing on the floor - in cartoon format similar to the one of Bobby in the hospital bed reading the paper. It's a funny visual and I am laughing to myself.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 5:57 AM

Yea, Alex has done a terrific job!! He is turning into a really good reporter. Barbaro's grooms, do they speak english? That may be a problem.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:58 AM

    I WANT AT LEAST 10 !!!!!

    SHANNON...YOU HAVE A SHEPHERD!!!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 5:59 AM

Lynda - My husband goes to bed @ 9 or 10, usually I go @ 1. Still have to get up at 6 either way to make his breakfast and lunch. On our 1 yr.anniv. I'm quiting that.

    Posted by: Marilyn/CA at August 4, 2006 6:01 AM

Maribel isn't it? I think so too! I dont know how many I want to buy, it all depends on the cost. I am a poor college student LOL.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:02 AM

Do we know how much the bracelets are? I'd like to be able to make a big donation, but cost is too much of an issue for me right now.

    Posted by: Marilyn/CA at August 4, 2006 6:03 AM

Marilyn oops! Sorry, I guess it was Maribel that I emailed!!

Debbie, can I ask what your husband does?

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:03 AM

Shannon said Zeena is a German Shepherd who thinks she is a cow and eats grass and occasionally throws up afterwards on the dining room floor. I can just see it because I too am now crazy after spending time in the Barbaro Zone.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:03 AM

Marilyn I don't think we do, yet.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:03 AM

Maribel, yes, she is the love of my life, smart as a whip....If you can, email that pic to Rachel or whoever at KF and ask if thats what they looked like. Ask about the horse head imprint.

Debbie, you been married longer then me, it's been just over a month for me.

And yes I too get the stupid visuals that just crack me up, then I know I am tired, but I dont care.. much like the sausage thing.

What a loser to make bracelets without copyright! Have the Jacksons responded to Lisa?

Also, I want to contribut to one of those "group" baskets for our boy. What do I need to do? Do we get to sign our names & addresses? Noones probably up to read this but maybe tomorrow someone can.

It is such a miracle to see B getting better. I love him and I can't wait to have a reunion!! Does anyone know about a meeting in DC? I live outside DC!!

    Sleep well big stallion!!

Debbie, no. I may stay in security, or mabe loss prevention. I am trying to get a job at Burlington Coat Factory as a loss prevention person, but I dont think they are going to call me. OR I may get my Bachelors in a business admin type course and spread out my options a little more.

There is a lady I work with that has been trying to get me married off for 5 years LOL She THINKS she found one, but needs to ask more questions LOL!!

SusanW: hey hey hey.. we on for a trifecta box? Check your email I have a favor to ask...

Maribel: Ok I will take care of it!

Good night beautiful boy. I hope your night is filled with the sweetest of dreams, comfort, and healing. Rest your body and spirit, so that you have renewed energy to conquer tomorrow, and the next day, and the day after that, and every tomorrow thereafter until the day you awaken to endless fields of green, sunshine on your back, and the wind in your mane. Remember Bobby, tomorrow is not far away.

I love you. Rest well precious boy.

    The miracle continues.

Is Alex married? If not and you get close we wont have to worry about getting in trouble for our posts.

I did not work when I went back to school. I would never have made it. Plus I had to do volunteer hours and interning, ie: working for free. Plus homework. Plus with a job you couldn't spend so much time here.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:24 AM

I don't know if Alex is married or not. Hahaha gee is that all you think of me? LOLOL!! Just so you don't get into trouble for our posts LOL!
You were fortunate. I have to hold down a full time job (plust piles of overtime the last several weeks), and I am a full time student and we go on field trips. AND homework.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:27 AM

Met my husband through a friend of his that I met and was hanging out with. The friend decided that we should meet and voila. Set-ups do work.
Atleast you can get info prior to meeting. Find out if he is someone you would even want to meet.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:28 AM

I am sure Alex would want somebody who is already involved with racehorses anyway. They all marry each other LOL!

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:29 AM

    Lynda
When the heck do you sleep or is that what you should be doing now?

Shannon what does your husband do when you are on here?

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:30 AM

Debbie yea. She is asking questions right now to even see if we would be even remotely compatable. He is the right faith, but we need to have some things in common too. Like love of horses for instance LOL.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:30 AM

    I WAS MARRIED FOR 35 YRS...ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH !!!

WAS LUCKY TO FIND A WONDERFUL MAN....I AM 57 !!!
I WAS ATTENDING A PUBLIC INQUIRY and JUST HAPPENED TO SIT DOWN BESIDE HIM....AFTER A FEW DAYS...HE ASKED IF I HAD A PIECE OF PAPER...THEN A PEN...HE HANDED ME A NOTE WHICH READ....
    " YOU ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL"....
I REPLIED "I THOUGHT YOU HAD SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO TELL ME !!!"

SEVEN MONTHS LATER....HE IS TALKING ABOUT FOREVER !!!! WE ARE SOULMATES......

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 6:30 AM

Debbie I sleep between 8:30 AM and 1:30 PM. I go to school between 5 and 11pm, and I work between midnight and 8. I am naturally up at this time of night.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:32 AM

Lynda you never know. This way you could be the only one of us to actually get to see Bobby. Think about that. Everyone else would be so envious. But, of course, since it was my idea I would get invited along - of course.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:32 AM

    Maribel that is so cute!!!

    What is a public inquiry?

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:32 AM

Does Alex get to see Bobby? If he doesn't, how could I? But mabe I could tag along with Michael. You would be the first invited.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:34 AM

    Maribel: very sweet story.

What does my guy do?? Well it's 1;32am here, my guy is in the other room watching tv enjoying the A/C, I think he pretty much realizes he has it good. I am here at home checking on a horse, better then out at a bar checking on something else ;)
ps, I dont drink at all, or go to bars, there really anything he can complain about...accept maybe no dinner past 10 weeks.. lmao.... But I keep telling him thats what restaurants are for!!!

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 6:34 AM

Maibel you are very lucky. What a sweet sounding man.

    Lynda what a horrible schedule.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:34 AM

Shannon No dinner in Ten weeks!?!?! Holy CoW!!! Hahahahaha :O)

Debbie, I know. I feel like I can handle any schedule after this. AND I have been doing this for almost 5 years. Except for the school part though. That started almost 2 years ago.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:37 AM

I feel like getting up at 4am and riding horses all morning would be a piece of cake.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:38 AM

    Lynda
Alex has more of a chance than the rest of us to see Bobby. Don't you think. Who knows, I could be way wrong.
    Shannon
My husband used to do the bar thing a lot when we dated. Marriage and a new work schedule cured that. Thankfully. I like a drink here and there, but not all night long in a bar. Those days are long over. I guess we are better off here not getting into too much trouble.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:39 AM

PUBLIC INQUIRY...government funded legal investigation to uncover anything illegal (that's the best I can do explaining)Usually ordered due to public outcry for the truth into something.I'm in CANADA.

I was attending the public inquiry into the police shooting of unarmed aboriginal protestor Dudley George at Ipperwash Provincial Park in Ontario.

My friend is a freelance photographer/retired lawyer.

    Does that help???

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 6:40 AM

Shannon's husband might be the first to start the Barbaro Widowers Support Group - for neglected husbands of the maniacs.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:42 AM

Maribel: I stand corrected, I need a direct email for them, and Rachels link takes me to the website with a contact form. Will wait and see what the daytime crew comes up with tomorrow. Will help then if still needed.

Yes, got married June 24th, before that, in May our guy had his accident, so I was glued to him and his progress even before we got married, and it still continues. I am very lucky, he knows I love animals, and well.. like I said, he has nothing to complain about. I am here, he has clean clothes..lol , a clean home, and can do whatever he wants. Besides, its summer !!

Posted by: Shannon & Zeena at August 4, 2006 6:42 AM

Debbie, that is true. That would definitly help me I would think! Drinking all night is really not good. Some of my classmates brag about doing that and then they laugh about being sick. I don't get it.

Maribel thanks! No wonder I never heard of that before LOL.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:42 AM

Maribel that is really interesting. Do you know what the outcome was?

Lynda I dont get the whole excess drinking thing. And being sick is not too much fun. I was watching racing at Calder a couple years ago and had three glasses of wine. Got sick and had a horrible hangover and realized what a lightweight I am. Not a bad thing.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:46 AM

    FORGOT TO TELL YOU....

    HE CALLS ME...."BEAUTIFUL LADY"(at 57yrs)

    HE'S DEFINITELY ..."A KEEPER"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Maribel at August 4, 2006 6:47 AM

Debbie LOL. I had a shot of Saki (sp?) when I turned 20. I didn't know what it was. I was in a Japanese steak house in Manhattan that my friends took me to. They wanted me to drink more, but I was afraid I would get sick. I got sick anyway!!! I wont drink beer. Some wine, but NO BEER or Whiskey.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:48 AM

Maribel that is too cute. I hope one day that will work for me! I would love to marry a handsome guy that I can get along with LOL.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:49 AM

    Lynda
Do you have a restaurant called PF Changs - they make a great Watermelon Martini. Just my speed.

Sometimes you have to forego the handsome part for the personality, humor and friendship.

Posted by: Debbie B. from Miami, Fl. at August 4, 2006 6:51 AM

Debbie, I have never heard of that resteraunt, but I am sure there is one in Houston somewhere.

Yea, I know I can't get it all LOL.

Posted by: Lynda Pellitteri From SE Texas at August 4, 2006 6:54 AM

Well I am 32 and just tied the knot. Thought it would never happen. But c'est la vie. Don't give up home.. trust me.. If it can happen to me (no dinner for 10wks) it can happen to you! And just think, he still calls me princess..

Maribel, Where are you? I have family in Burlington, Hamilton, Scarborough etc.

I used to live in Westchester, NY.. now I am back in Canada. Been to West Palm Beach, FLA, all over California, Oregon and Washington. And been to PA as well ( Atlantic city )

THE POLICE ALMOST CLUBBED THE NATIVE BAND COUNSELLOR TO DEATH WHEN HE STEPPED FORWARD TO NEGOTIATE !!!! IT WAS A VERY BAD SCENE !!!

    DUDLEY GEORGE DIED !!!
THE POLICE HAD TO PAY A SETTLEMENT TO THE BAND COUNSELLOR FOR HIS INJURIES!!!

Well I need to go. Have to get up in three hours to make meals. Would tell him to buy lunch, but we are supposed to be saving money, going to Vegas in a couple weeks. Morning Bobby, Alex and everyone.

Great to hear from Alex that Bobby was having a good day yesterday, but I have to confess that I started to slowly scroll and read messages but then just whizzed straight down to the bottom, looking out for any of Alex's little shaded entries...so much banter from last night and it would have taken me all day to get through it! lol

So let me know if I missed anything important.

Jan...Happy birthday! What a great birthday present! :-)

Going to light my candles now and wait for the morning news from Alex.
