Sandie, I know what you're feeling. Just the thought of that happening to... I'm not going to say it. I've been going through a similar time the last few days after watching a video on dogs and cats being skinned alive in China so we can have fur trim on our garments. Folks don't even know they're wearing dog fur. So sad. How can people do that? Those poor, poor animals. I'd add a link but someone may click on it thinking it's something about Barbaro and be horrified. I've never seen such cruelty. And I can't get the images out of my head.

All of us with the slaughter and track safety issues, we might get in touch with Keit Olbermann. He has a very querky news hour on MSNBC and he is very pro-animals. During the run of the Bulls in Pamplona he keeps a log Bulls 10, Bipeds 0. His show is Countdown on MSNBC and it is the mainstream Jon Stewart Daily show. Very amusing yet to the point.

Saw the movie The Matador with Pierce Brosnan and there was a bullfighting scene, do not know if it was real or fake. It was disgusting. Go bulls - what an archaic form of entertainment.

Alex - I too wondered how the patients are monitored. Do they have machines in their stalls that are monitored at a central nursing station? Or do they get checked on by people doing visual rounds instead?

Just a short HI, as I had chemo today and just washed out tonight Plus my poor Maggie Mae (my Newfie/lab mix) got stung by a bee/wasp and her face is all swollen. she is my feel good dog when I need a lift.

I saw some of the posts from earlier.. couldn't get through it all.

Just want to leave you all with this.. and rememeber, there is so much more to life than bitterness and heated words.. When you fight they fight I am, and our Dear Barbaro is.. you see that..

Our Vigil is tomorrow, Please let's keep it simple and remember who it is for and not get all out of control like the last time.. I pray for that, we are here for support of Barbaro, and all whom are caring for him, and his "family", us included

Seeing people in the ICU (at least in NYC) is confined to people close to the patient. My late boyfriend was in ICU for a few months and only those of us who where considered FAMILY where allowed in. I do not know (thankfully) how this applies to animals.

I think the only posts that really upset me today were those that seemed to try to lay blame on horseracing and those that are in the business. Just my opinion, but it is very disrespectful to be on a trainer's site, be faithfully receiving updates from all manner of people connected to the business and appear to be discrediting their motives or intentions. I agree that we have freedom of speech, but sensitivity should dictate that sometimes things are best left unsaid. Keep in mind, I am exercising my free speech by expressing this opinion. Others will disagree.

As for those who commented about bringing these issues to Keith Olbermann, I think this is a fantastic idea. I love Keith's program and he is very 'cool' about stuff like this. I definitely think it's worth a shot because if there's something to it, you can rest assured that Keith will definitely follow up on it. He's smart, witty, clever and likes being a little 'out of the mainstream' in going after stories that others might not want to touch ... Keith is definitely one of 'the good guys'.

Thanks for your understanding. People rise early and head off to work or work at home only have limited time to see how Barbaro is doing and how others are helping him. What if you had to sit at the computer and spend 45 - 60 minutes before finding certain vital info passed on as a courtesy to us -- part of the BARBARO NATION --
if we want to talk personally to each other we email each other away from here. For those who haven't learned yet -- try it! Barbaro went from being a boy to becoming a man. Perhaps, its time the 2 chirping bloggers tying up this website do the same. Barbaro would tell you likewise. Just heard him whisper it. NO DISRESPECT TO YOU, just providing valuable insight to stop scaring away those who've had a very tough day and enjoy a bit of joyfulness found here to know Barbaro if he makes it through one more day, then so can they.

Sometimes we all need reminded that some stuff is just that.. Stuff.. Life is so much more precious and at times, we forget about that and let the small stuff get to us. . When we let that happen, something good might pass you by and you will miss it.. could be as simple as a beautiful rainbow, butterfly or a child laughing.. be upset and let things get to you, you miss out on the good stuff.. Same with this site.. Focus on the good it is doing, and let the other stuff slide off (and scroll scroll)..

Just need to stop and be thankful for what we have, as it could be far worse.

blinkers or blinders are used on a horse to keep him focused on the race.

Some veer, some startle easily, I'd imagine there are several other behaviors that the blinkers are used to modify.

Hi you guys, been real busy with work and now I have a part time job. Thanks for posting the petition link again Janice!!!!!

I see there have been some fireworks around here again. Too bad....I think a chat room is a rockin idea for this place. This is really a comment section for "commenting on what the blogger is posting", not for just going back and forth with each other like we all have done. Bless you Alex, for your patience. We have all done and created some unique bonds here, hopefully some that will effect a change for the better in your profession and sport.

It would be neat if he could even set up a message board type link off of here, that would allow us to follow a thread/post and start new ones too.

I have an idea about a celebrity and will let you know if I can make contact. It is really off the wall, but TOTALLY rockin and cool. Him and his MOVIE STAR wife LOVE animals and HORSEpower. Who knows maybe just maybe they might or he might decide to back the petition.

I just got back,and apparently missed all the action.

First; It is so good to hear from Mary L. Stay strong, My Dear, and thank you for taking time to join us here even when you are not feeling your best. It's too bad that you weren't here last night. I know, the laughter would have made you feel better.

Now, about last night: I was laughing out loud so much, that just after I turned my computer off, my son came in to ask what WAS SO FUNNY. I tried to explain to him about the Carrot Posse, and the little rif with WTF ( We THE Fruit, as the first three words of our preamble), then about Ernie and the tune from Jeoperdy...and the produce guys, and the Carrot Posse doing this disguised as carrots just so we can get in to see Barbaro. He just shook his head, then he described HIS visual.

He said he could see us as a bunch of 50-somethings, dressed up in Cowboy clothes, (fuzzy chapps and all) with carrots in our holsters, hands poised for the quick-draw, standing outside of NBC saying , "OK release the horse or else." Then he sang, "doo-eee-ooo-eee-ooo___ wha wha wha." It was a great way to top off a wonderful night.

As I lay down on my pillow, thanking God for all of the opportunities and blessings of the day, I thought of all of you, smiled, and drifted off.

I would only wish that everyone of you, who love Barbaro, would know such peace.

Fellowship and fun. What true treasure. And the beauty of it is, that EVERYONE is welcome and encouraged to join in, if you should so choose.

To Sandy: Please do not dwell on the horror that you witnessed of the "S" video. I am sorry to say, only from experience, that somethiong like that is something that you most likely will never forget. But even though your heart is broken, remember that you are helping to fight a great battle. Though the ghosts of those images will haunt you, the spirits of those innocent creatures are released into a better place...and that is true of right here, and right now.

Go forward in strength. You are one of the lucky ones to have a heart capable of being broken.

Let Barbaro's spirit of strength sustain you. And know that you are not alone in the fight.

To answer you question about why everyone wants to see Barbaro out of the sling, I can only assume that they want to see if he is balancing on both hind legs. Also, they may want to see how uncomfortable he is standing.

Dennis, I'm guessing, but I think they want to observe how Bobby moves, how he distributes his weight, how he uses his legs, how active he is, and how well he seems to feel. They also want to check his front legs and hooves to make sure they're healthy.

Apparently, according to someone who posted several weeks ago, one must dress as a carrot in order to get into NBC to see Bobby.

It was an anticdotal narrative that a lot of people seemed to like. How great to think that somehow, Belle might be "imortalized." (Poor, dear old friend...)

Thanks for the help - I was REALLY confused because, not having posted in several days, I was "commenting" about things I'd been reading about lately...didn't see how my comments differed from much of what I'd been reading.
I'll try to recreate as much as possible:

The first - a simple "hats off" to any of you who are able to read everything that posted because I can't possibly get through everything! I've been reading some every am, reading much more at night, but haven't posted in a few days and debated whether I should post tonight.
Some things I've been reading about make me feel I've detoured into the Twilight Zone...pirated bracelets??? is it visual admiration or sexual harrassment??? CHAT ROOM - how sad!!! I feel that in the midst of the chat those who aren't in the room will likely miss some valuable info!!! Thanks to Alex for being so accomodating to arrange it, but I personally find it pretty sad that it's come to that...when the only thing that should matter is BARBARO THE MAGNIFICENT!!! A little humor definitely helps - I'm the one who suggested Dr. R. costumes, so hope I'm the ONE "Dr. R. impersonator" referred to in the "posse head-count!
And last, a possible spin on why some people may feel unwelcome, feel there's cliques, etc....This happened to me earlier this week and this is where you can FEEL FREE TO CALL ME SENSITIVE (I'M DAMN PROUD TO BE A SENSITIVE PERSON). I HONESTLY THINK THAT EVERYONE ON THIS SITE IS SENSITIVE OR ELSE THEY'D BE IN THE PATHETIC "it's only a horse" contingent. So here's my story - opinions highly desired!
Several days ago just after signing the petition re track surfacing, I suggested that (in my opinion) we needed some "big names" to get on board because I feel that (rightly or wrongly) those are the folks who can command attention...even though it sure helps to have vast numbers of little folks like me backing them up. Several people very kindly posted back with celeb names who were known to be horse/animal enthusiasts...my rather naive thought was that if everyone tracked down just one celeb with the link to the petition and a cover letter asking for support (other than just signing the petition) we might just be on to something. THANKS TO EVERYONE who seems to think the idea had some merit...but here's where it went downhill for me (and where being sensitive comes in): one person I won't name responded by saying that before everyone went amok contacting celebs we needed a plan, a standard letter to circulate, and that she had contacts in New York City and that "we only had one change to get it right."

BOY DID I FEEL LIKE A JERK! I apologized for stepping on toes...since I can't possibly read everything for all I knew something was already in the works. I referred to myself as a (concerned) fool rushing in and asked what the next step would/should be...my theory being that instead of talking things to death incessantly action was needed. I then supplied my email address with an offer of whatever assistance I could provide....received the briefest post-back "You'll be hearing from me." SO HAVE I HEARD ANYTHING? NOPE! I ended up feeling that I'd really overstepped my bounds, at the same time being confused about just who was determing what "my bound" were.
I tell you this only by way of suggesting that maybe that's why some folks are getting overly upset with some things on this wonderful site - if a person feels insulted, they tend to either stay and duke it out or withdraw...since I haven't posted since then, you see which option I took (rather than engage in a verbal tennis match) because I had hoped for ONLY POSITIVE ENERGIES HERE FOR THE BENEFIT OF MY/OUR HERO HORSE!

If you've been patient enough to wade through all this, I'd love some feedback!

Thanks many times over for having such an informative site. Though I came here first for information on Barbaro, I'm grateful for the other information available here, esp. perhaps on Mike Rea's recovery. I've had (far less serious) head injuries myself, and have had a friend with a very serious one, so I feel particularly connected to that family and Mike's ongoing struggle.

My two "boys" (palomino and chestnut) send their regards to Barbaro but insist that all carrots and horse cookies here are staying here...they don't want to share with the champ.

They do, however, complain that he gets more attention than they do. I point out that they don't have a broken leg each. The response was "If I broke a leg could I have more carrots and cookies and lots of people fussing over me all the time?" from both of them. (You know how they talk with ears and nostrils.) I said "Only if you won the Kentucky Derby first, and given that you're both geldings past middle age and lazy to boot, I don't see that happening." They looked at each other. "And besides, Barbaro has that great personality." They looked at each other again and I had two horse-heads bumping my chest. "We're cute too...we're sweet too...where's cookies please...you can pet my ears...No, she should pet *me* first...no, ME...no, I'm the alpha...no, *I'm* the alpha!"

So I make evil-mare-face and grunt-squeal at them and they step back, give each other another look. "Uh-oh...that's right, SHE'S the alpha...we better be nice boys..." "And if you bite him you don't get a cookie," I say, still in evil-mare-face mode. The palomino tries to roll up his eyes and look innocent, something hard for a 20 year old smart gelding whose entire life has been one long string of mischiefs. (Who let the yearlings into the rose garden? Who picked up a fence, pulling the posts out of the ground, then knocked it over and walked on it? Who...but I digress.) Do I have greedyguts horses that think all the cookies in the jar should be theirs right-this-minute? Well, yes...and they also think I'm the meanest horse-mom in the world because they are rationed on their treats.

I leave the barn to "You don't LOVE us..." except of course when they're chowing down on a meal.

But anyway. Thanks for this site and all who dwell thereon, and hopes that all who need healing, horse, human, and other, have a comfortable night and much improvement.

Nancy Ct, I dont know who told you this...I wrote up the petition with help from others here. The email for the petition is nomoredirt@gmail.com. Please drop a line there, I have no idea about this conversation you are talking about, and have not recieved any info about a letter or anything like that. I do know that i am supposed to come up with a letter to the editor type thing for all of us to send to our local papers. Unfortunatly, I was busy with the potential Hurricane and another possible emergency at work this week, plus starting a part time job and did not have time to do it yet. I should be able to get to that tomorrow. Anyway, send me a line.

Your celebrity suggestion was great! I saw your original post about it. The beauty and power of The Barbaro Effect is that its source is (are) so many of us here...each one doing everything we can.

I have called radio talke shows, TV stations, have been trying to track down how to contact celebrities, and, tonight, on the suggestion of someone's earlier post, sent an E-mail to Bill O'Reily at FOX News.

I even asked patrons of the little patio bar that I was invited to earlier this evening, ( to sing some Karoke), to please contact their Congressional Representatives about HR503.

Yes, do participate in as many organized efforts that are found here, but do not feel bad if you miss one or a few. And don't feel slighted or ignored. Believe me,there are many of us working on your suggestion, in our own ways...I'll bet more than we know. People get ideas here,then run with them. Just do your best when and where and however you can.

Who knows...Viggo may be contacting us soon...and Wayne,and Robert Redford, and Opra, and Larry....Barbaromaniacs are working on it. Just keep putting it out there. The BARBARO EFFECT is real.

Gosh, there are propably a lot of people out there who are able to do nothing more than post an idea, or pray. Every single bit of effort to these causes, for Barbaro's sake, is valuable.

I remember you posted something wonderful a few days ago; I'm so sorry, I don't remember exactly what, but I did realy like it....

You are important here, as is everyone. (I am not feeling too important here today, but I know it is true as a general rule.... :) )

I hope that the person who hurt your feelings sees your post and can say something to you to make you feel better.

Now, what I myself am doing today to Be Like Barbaro, is to try to shake off the hurt I have felt today, and to move forward...Maybe this would work for you. It is not exactly working for me, yet, but I am trying.

I am certainly not telling you what to do or trying to minimize your pain. Just trying to learn one of the lessons this wonderful horse seems to have been sent here to teach us.

Ordinarily, I would just start fooling with you a little now about something silly to cheer you up; but that would get me in so much trouble on this board....I have done this before for people who have gotten hurt, and then I have gotten clobbered the next day. Just pretend I'm doing that, and maybe it will cheer you up! :)

Or....you could always read the comments to post 462; but that would be wrong. :)

Hi Nancy...I understand how you feel as I can be on the sensitive side myself. However, I have put myself in the frame of mind that when I post and nobody responds, it is alright by me. I feel the need to read these posts and occasionally post my two cents worth because I love Bobby and believe with all of my heart and soul our prayers and positive thoughts are what will heal him. When someone posts back, then WOW...that is an added bonus to what I hope to achieve. There are a lot of people here and as many personalitis, and still we manage most of the time to get along. That is really a pretty big accomplishment in itself. I hope that helps you feel a bit better.

I am just blown away with some of the awsome writing here, poems, songs, knowledge, I am so glad I found this site early on. I have taken care of many injured and sick equine over the years, but this outpouring of prayers and faith for Barbaro, is mind boggleing! Count me in for the vigil on Sat too.

I will be here for the duration as I know that is what it takes, never to let up your vigil all the way to the end when Bobby will be grazing in his own pasture!

I'd just like to let you all know that when I took my oldest cat to the vet the other day, there posted on the wall for all to see were the pictures of Barbaro's x-rays! As far as I know, this veterinary hospital does not see horse patients (too non-rural), but I have more than a suspicion that the doctors and staff put those pictures up both out of pride for what the docs and staff at New Bolton have done, and for an atta-boy for Barbaro.

I know that the staff there cares and is watching developments ... my wee felines certainly get spoiled enough when they go in for treatment.

I felt like a jerk (hey, I'd wear both bracelets!), but the message was so sweetly phrased that there was nothing to it but to laugh like a hyena - Nancy, almost 60 and still gullible!

I just came back from watching "A Run for the Roses by Barbaro" again. I'm still get misty-eyed watching it. Barbaro is such a beautiful horse.

Here is my reply to the person that thinks Bernardini, should be picked over Barbaro for
horse of the year honors.

If Barbaro doesn't win Horse of the Year, it shouldn't be Bernardini, if Bernardini had been entered in the Colonial Turf Cup which is 1 3\16
an ran the same time as he ran winning the Preakness, which was 1:54.65 and is also 1 3\16, he would have lost by 9 or 10 lengths to Barbaro's
stablemate, Showing Up, who not only the won race, he set a new track record of 1:52.98, the only time Showing Up and Barbaro raced against each other was in the Kentucky Derby and Barbaro beat
Showing Up by 10 lengths, thats why I feel if
Barbaro isn't the Horse of the Year, it shouldn't
be Bernardini, give the award to Showing Up, he's
proved on the track that he's the better of the two. In the words of Jose Carabello, I hoped I would get a chance to ride Barbaro again, and I did, in the Laurel Futurity. In my 22 years of riding races I have never been on a horse like the one I was on that day, and I have ridden over 2,000 winners.

Yes, Barbaro DEFINITELY deserves Horse of the Year! Heck! Horse of the Century...(we are in a new century)....

Saw some discussion about PMU mares/foals in the last few days and wanted to post the website of a place quite near me that rescues them...maybe I still will. The farm owner wrote an incredible essay on the subject, but anyone who reads it will need a 10-gallon bucket for the tears.

Produce is fine for you - I have NEVER discriminated against produce, and never will - but if you don't mind I prefer to be the one, true Dr. R. impersonator...

Another example that shows how much Barbaro has touched hearts everywhere:

Tonight while checking online for a hotel stay, I had a question so called the chain's main reservations number. I got a gentleman in Texas (I'm in Illinois), who promptly answered my question. I mentioned something in passing about Arlington Park (the hotel is near there), and he immediately said "How is Barbaro? My young daughter and I only watch the Triple Crown races, but he really stood out. And we were so sad when he got hurt. Do you know how he's doing?"

So of course I told him about this website, and he asked a lot of questions about the sling and treatment, and on and on. (I can just imagine if someone decides to replay that recorded conversation!) Anyway, it was heartwarming to know that yet another person (and family) were interested in Barbaro's future.

Bobby, shine on! You have opened a door for so many to feel so much.

Well I did it. I sent an email to Joe Scarborough at MSNBC. I am a regular viewer of "Scarborough Country" and believe Mr. Scarborough to be a decent man who might just be willing to take up the cause. Thought you all might like to read what I sent to him. Let's all pray he gets involved:

Dear Mr. Scarborough,

I am emailing you today to ask you to please address on your show the issue of horse slaughter in the United States. I am a regular viewer of Scarborough Country, and I admire and respect you and believe you to be a fair and reasonable person. I believe you possess both the decency and integrity to at least give the matter some consideration.

Two versions of a bill to end horse slaughter in the United States have been sent to the U.S. House Rules Committee and will be considered at the beginning of September. If this issue could be presented before September to the American public on a widely viewed show such as yours, I believe the impact could be tremendously beneficial in the effort to put an end to this brutal industry. Until recently, I, myself, was personally unaware of this issue and was shocked and appalled to learn what was happening to the magnificent horses in our country. I immediately contacted my representative to voice my concern and asked him to support the ban on horse slaughter in the United States. (I am pleased to report my representative responded, and he is "ardently opposed" to the slaughter of American horses and supports HR 503.)

I will not list facts and statistics regarding horse slaughter here for you as I am, by no means, an expert on this issue, and I understand that you would be obligated to conduct your own research of the facts before you would even contemplate airing this issue on your show. As unpleasant and deeply disturbing as it may be, I ask you to please view this video clip of a slaughterhouse conducting its grisly business. (I've deleted the link from this posting.) This clip clearly demonstrates that slaughter is not humane euthanasia, as many people mistakenly believe, and emphasizes the urgent need to put this industry out of business now. No horse deserves such a horrible fate.

Please, Mr. Scarborough, the horses are running out of time. You have an amazing opportunity to educate the public on this issue. I am sure a great many people are presently unaware that horses are being slaughtered in such a horrendous and cruel manner in this country, just as I was unaware. I believe if the general public were to know the facts, they would also be outraged and would put pressure on the "powers that be" to end the slaughter. You have the ability to possibly effect such great change for these beautiful animals. I sincerely hope you will choose to use your celebrity and influence to help stop the slaughter of horses in this country, once and for all.

I think that sounds awesome. I really think that your letter gets to the point without too many details. You gave him the topic to look into, his people can get all of the details.
I think there's a good chance he will pick this up since he was once in Congress himself and voted on things. Not to mention, there's really not much content on his show right now. I heard Tucker earlier this week saying that August is a very slow month for news. Something that would never make the news at a time when there's alot going on, will often make the news in August. So now is the perfect time for a letter like this!
In my opinion, I can't see O'Reilly doing it, Lou Dobbs only seems to care about illegal immigration, and Olberman tends to do stories he can make fun of (not much heavy stuff on that show).

Yeah, even though I love Keith O., I chose Joe because his show has a more serious tone to it, and this issue certainly deserves to be taken seriously. You're right, he once was a member of Congress and I thought that might make a difference too. He seems to like taking on issues "of the people," and I'd say a lot of people certainly care about this. Sadly, Another Angel

Ms Speak Freely was pulled up in the sixth race at Saratoga on Aug 03 after fracturing her left hind. She was vanned off and euthanized on the backstretch. It was the first breakdown of the meeting.

I hesitated to post this as I know it is depressing. But I feel also that this is the place where many will wish to say a prayer for her. Perhaps now she will cross the rainbow bridge to greener pastures at least with the thoughts and prayers of the caring individuals here. I didn't want her to make the journey alone.

Dear God, it hurts each and every time.

Heavenly Father, please hold Ms Speak Freely in your restoring embrace. Remove all her fears in that final journey. Guide us, as stewards of your innocent creations while we grapple to make congruent our lust for entertainment with an ever increasing awareness of that stewardship you have entrusted to us.

Cindy Campbell, we have a LOT to talk about. At yesteryday's session with Windy/Stormy, Willow brought out a drum and I drummed with the horses for the first time ever. Now I want one... Stormy was outright affectionate, Windy is still a bit aloof, but he loves Willow. Willow also performed a Native American pipe ceremony for me. It was beautiful and very moving. I was chanting mantras, weaving in between the horses, just in a beautiful zone...and they were loving it. Then Willow and I talked shop for about 90 minutes because she is also going thru some healing. Her mom will be transitioning soon, and there is some emotional release here.

Willow wants to have a cookout for the horses...veggie burgers for them (Alex, is that OK?) and "regular" food for the humans. Should take place in a week or two. I may camp out with Windy and Stormy that night...don't know yet...my son's wedding is in 2 weeks from today so I have to work around that.

All in all, a beautiful day.

Well, I'm off - have yoga this a.m., Cirque de Soleil later this afternoon in Phila, dinner with friends I haven't seen in months and at 7 p.m. EDT, I'll probably be on the Schuylkill Expressway so I'll join the vigil in spirit and prayer. I'll include Mike Rea and his family in my prayers.

Bobby, I'll check back in tonight when I get home from this whirlwind day. I love you always.

Although I can't find it yet on the net, today's Baltimore Examiner has a very sweet article about a local thoroughbred, trained in dressage, who lost an eye to disease. He was a feisty critter and apparently had some trouble finding the right placement after he lost the eye, but thanks to the love and attention of a new owner, he is now competing (and winning!) in local dressage competitions here in Maryland. Hooray!

To whom it may concern:  While catching up w/the posts, I see that after I left the board recently, a handful of posters hurled some less-than-favorable comments directly at me.  Some even posted MULTIPLE times during the same period.  And since THEY initiated the dialogue with ME, and since their comments are particularly unsavory, not to mention unwarranted and unfounded, I think it only fair that I be allowed to answer my "accusers", so to speak.  I have always been "positive" on this board, expressing my faith and belief in God's ability to heal, and in His total protection for Barbaro.  But certain posters have continued to single me out, unsolicited.

Unfortunately, not only has this group appointed itself "judge" and "jury" over me, and has even referred me to Alex's "rules", with which I am quite familiar, it obviously also has made itself "EXEMPT" from, and set itself ABOVE those same "rules", since two of the rules request that a poster not be offensive, and even refrain from responding to offensive posts -- both of which this group has broken.

I am responding to their posts because they are directly addressed to me.  But this is NOT contrary to Alex's "rules", since I do not consider their posts to be offensive to me -- rather rude, unseemly, inappropriate, and generally mean-spirited.  In fact, it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to be offended by those who have neither the intellect nor the wisdom to do so.  Taking offense is a useless, counterproductive emotion --  like self-pity -- best left to children and the unenlightened.

And one need not be a "rocket scientist", as the saying goes, to conclude -- as other posters have -- that these bellicose detractors have formed themselves into a "clique" on this board, whereby they often assault, insult, and mock other posters with whom they disagree, in an effort to frustrate them and force them off the board.  Their behavior is not only CONTRARY to the SPIRIT of this board,  but is EXTRAORDINARILY DISRESPECTFUL to the owners of this site.  They band together as a "group",  because apparently they are too spineless to stand on their own, only to find at "day's end", that the only persons they have succeeded in frustrating...are themselves.

The IRONY -- as one poster so astutely observed --is that they continually accuse ME of creating discord and negativity on the board, when it is THEY who have engaged ME, with their UNSOLICITED, UNWARRANTED, and UNFOUNDED attacks on me, and on my positive posts, WHICH HAVE BEEN DEDICATED TO PRAYERFUL THOUGHTS AND HEALING AFFIRMATIONS FOR BARBARO.  But since they do not like or agree with my posts, the only way they can deal with them, apparently, is to denigrate them and me, and then blame me for the resulting conflict and disharmony that they, in fact, created in the first place!  They disrespect others' ideas with which they do not agree or understand, but then become highly indignant, insulted, and even enraged, when I, or any other poster, answer them.  In other words, they want to CONTROL the board, by saying whatever they want, to whomever they want, with impunity.

They continually make it THEIR BUSINESS to call me out, for either my general statements of healing ideas, or statements I posted to someone else with whom I was communicating, just for the purpose of making it APPEAR that there are arguments when, in fact, it's their own MULTIPLE postings, back and forth with each other, as well as directed to me, that have created the APPEARANCE of arguments.  If they TRULY wanted PEACE on the board, as they say, THEY WOULD SCROLL PAST MY IDEAS WITH WHICH THEY DO NOT AGREE.  The fact that they don't, REVEALS their TRUE PURPOSE, which is to rid "THEIR" board of certain posters that they do not want.

NOTA BENE:  If there are those among you who do not wish to read my answers to these posters, I invite you to use the SCROLL button.  Otherwise, at the very least, have the courtesy not to interpose and inject your ideas into a discussion in which you have had no part.  If you are not one of the posters in question, then this does not pertain to you.  However, if you do decide to add your unsolicited comments to an already contentious situation, then you will only complicate matters further, and show your total disrespect for this board and its owners.  If, however, you have something to say that ALL readers, without exception, would interpret as constructive, i.e., that which is devoid of anger, antagonism, negativism, belligerence, arrogance, self-righteousness, mean-spiritedness, egotism, screaming, yelling, cursing, etc., then I, for one, welcome your post. I have NEVER initiated dialogue w/you in ALL the weeks I've been on this board until YOU "called me out".  Of course you "don't care to have an answer", you just want to malign me and be done with it.  Thumping?  I have posted quotes, not only from the Bible, which MANY posters have said they appreciate, but also quotes from Carl Jung, a noted psychologist, and even a line from a modern movie, to illustrate my ideas.  I also mentioned Norman Vincent Peale.  I hardly call that "thumping".  I'm here for BARBARO, and all my posts with healing thoughts and affirmations confirm that.

If my posts, as you feel, are "way over" people's "heads", then they can scroll past them.  I have said OVER AND OVER, I am entitled to my expressions of love and healing for Barbaro, just as much as anyone else on this board.  If you don't like them, then do not read them.  If they're "scary" to you...then I guess Jesus' teachings are "scary" to you, because my faith is BIBLE-based, whether you like it or not.  People do not, obviously, perceive the world through the same "eyes"; if you do not understand what the "hay" I'm "getting at", then disregard it.  But do not call my posts "fire and brimstone thinking", because you are obviously unaware of what that means.  The phrase, "fire and brimstone", refers to a fundamentalist notion of "Hell", which I neither subscribe to, nor believe.  Be knowledgeable of what you say, rather than make something up.  I do not need to "chill out".  But you and your "followers" are the ones who have felt the need to continually "call me out" and "reprimand" me.

YOU are NOT the ARBITER of Alex's "rules"; I need no "reminder" from YOU.  I have followed his "rules".  But quite obviously, YOU have not.  Otherwise, you would not have written these MULTIPLE posts to me, attempting to be "offensive", as Alex requested that you not do.  If anyone is "jeopardizing" this site, it is you and your "clique", because you simply cannot allow me to post my thoughts in peace,  which are not directed at anyone (unless someone addresses me), without YOU deciding you have the "duty" and the "authority" (self-appointed), to "set me straight", so to speak.  By your own admission on other posts, you indicate your age to be approximately 48;I am several years older than you.  If you have NO RESPECT for some posters here, then at least have respect for the elders here.

You do not clarify what you mean by "graphic";  I believe you mistake "graphic" for "articulate".  Before you accuse me of not exhibiting "understanding, education, and kind words", I suggest you re-read ALL MY POSTS containing healing thoughts for Barbaro.  I understand where people are coming from and have diligently tried to explain my standpoint in healing, particularly since I know it is not the generally accepted view.  Many posters have told me they have been INSPIRED by my posts.  If you have not, so be it.  But do not assume that I do not "understand".  Also, much of what I have said in my posts is VERY educational.  Again, if you do not agree, do not continue to read my posts.  But do not try to DEFINE for OTHERS on this board, what might be "educational" for them.  Your little "clique" is not representative of the WHOLE board -- otherwise, I would not have received so many favorable comments from others, who often have asked me to RE-POST something.

Kind words?  I have nothing but "kind words" in my healing messages and in dialogues with others who have not attacked me.  With those of you who HAVE attacked me, I simply state the facts, which are neither "kind" nor "unkind" -- they're just clarifications to address the charges levied against me by you and others like you.

"reaming" you, and the "people who run this site"?  I have NEVER "reamed" anyone.  I have corrected mis-interpretations and mis-statements of my posts -- just as I am doing now.  YOU NEED TO RETRACT THAT LAST STATEMENT ABOUT "REAMING" THE "PEOPLE WHO RUN THIS SITE".  I HAVE HAD THE UTMOST RESPECT FOR THE OWNERS OF THIS SITE, AND HAVE NOT SO MUCH AS EVER SAID ONE WORD AGAINST THEM.  PROVE YOUR FALSE ACCUSATION!  What a despicable thing to say, Mary L.!

You have been VERY public with posts informing the board about your medical condition.  I am sorry for your hardships.  But that DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT to FALSELY ACCUSE ME!   NOR DOES IT GIVE YOU an "EXCUSE" to FALSELY ACCUSE ME.  I would think, that someone facing the challenges that you are, would be the LAST person to reprimand another, and claim that their words are not "kind".  If you ask me (and you DID address me), YOU are the one here with the UNKIND words, not I.  I would not even be addressing you at this time were it not for these MULTIPLE, UNSOLICITED posts of yours.

I would think, given your situation, that you would have far more serious things to apply your thought to, than to that of maligning another child of God.  Do you think the thoughts you are holding in your heart and mind against me, are "kind"?  In my opinion, it would do you good to try to LEARN something from my posts about healing work for Barbaro, and healing prayers, in general -- FOR YOUR OWN EDIFICATION AND WELL-BEING, rather than to strike out at me as you have done.  Your unkind posts to me reveal that you know absolutely NOTHING, I'm sorry to say, about the humble, prayerful attitude required to align one's thought with Divine Mind, and to effect healing for oneself, and for others.  I pray for your sake that you will "see" this.  But it requires loving thoughts toward ALL people, and HUMILITY.  If you understood this, you NEVER would have allowed yourself to behave in the manner that you continue to do in your angry posts to me.  As Jesus said, "Father forgive them, for they know not what they do."  Or, to put it Dr. Phil's way:  "You don't know, what you don't know."

But I hold no ill will to you or anyone on this board.  Neither do I get offended, angry, upset, or engage in any such emotion, because I know the type of mindset and life that heal, and I want to continue to keep my thought in harmony with God's Laws of Good.  I feel sorry for you and the others, who have continually assaulted one here, who has never done any harm to you or anyone else on this board.

But I have ABSOLUTELY NO interest in seeking attention in my spiritual life, because that is private, and that is the way it will stay.  The fact that the board is public, has nothing to do with me being private.  You do not know me.  So I am still private.  You only know of my beliefs, which is as it should be, because my only purpose in coming to this site was to offer my prayers for Barbaro, and SHARE anything in my beliefs that might HELP others to "see" and affirm Bobby's healing, especially when things looked bleak, and many on the board were worrying and doubting and having fearful thoughts -- against which Jesus cautioned.  And many posters have THANKED ME for reminding them of Jesus' teachings.  I speak from experience.  I've had 30 yrs. demonstrating these HEALING PRINCIPLES.  I've done volunteer work in the HEALING MINISTRY of a MAJOR Christian Church.  I know how POWERFUL thought is.  There's no attention-seeking on my part; just love for God, His people, and His most MAGNIFICENT HORSE, BARBARO.

I am far from "negative", so naturally I would not want to be depicted as such.  And contrary to what you have said, I have not referred to "people" as being "negative", rather their THOUGHT which, at times, has been negative, fearful, doubting, etc., which in MY BELIEF SYSTEM, is not the correct mental environment for prayerful healing.

CJ: Unfortunately, you did not "hold your peace" long enough!  If you're going to address this issue, even though my original post was an "answer" to someone who singled me out, whom I also DID NOT solicit, then at least GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT!

You are one of the posters in the "clique", because I see your posts all the time, and had no intention of posting to you once I noticed that you were mocking me with your "friends".  But before you started that childish behavior, I even complimented you one time on something you posted.  But here you are, following your "friends", and bashing me, when I have done nothing to you, or said anything to you regarding this issue.

AGAIN, I have NEVER told anyone what to think or what to post.  I have only stated MY beliefs about what I KNOW promotes a healing atmosphere for Bobby.  I have NEITHER the power to stop people from posting whatever they want, NOR the power to stop anyone from thinking whatever they want.  NOR DO I DESIRE TO!   What a LUDICROUS ASSERTION ON YOUR PART!

The poster to whom I tried to explain that her thinking was "flawed", is not only someone who singled ME out, and distorted my words -- just as you and some others are doing -- but is also someone who CLAIMED to understand "positive thinking", yet she contradicted herself in her post, and everything therein revealed that she understood NOTHING of positive thinking, or she would not have made some of the statements that she did.

Who do I think I am...you ask?  With regard to that specific post and poster, the statements I made to her, I was qualified and entitled to make, because (1) she addressed me, unsolicited, so she set herself up for my response -- just as you have, and (2) I hold the ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS, along with a decade of teaching such subjects (among others) at the University level.  My academic credentials and professional experience qualify me to make the statements and offer the suggestions I did.  WHAT ARE YOUR CREDENTIALS, CJ, THAT GIVE YOU THE AUDACITY TO ASSUME TO KNOW FROM WHERE I SPEAK?  DO NOT INJECT YOURSELF INTO OTHER PEOPLE'S CONVERSATIONS, UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.  YOU DO NOT.  I made the comments to her that were appropriate for me to make to someone who addressed me out of turn, and who also did not know what she was talking about re "positive thinking", which SHE brought up.  I also suggested that she seek out works of the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, as a "starter" book on "positive thinking".

And BTW, if you do not think the poster's thought processes were flawed regarding that specific issue -- which is what I was addressing -- then don't worry about it.  BUT IF YOU HAVE NEITHER THE ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS, NOR THE FORMAL TEACHING EXPERIENCE that would qualify you to make that judgment, then I would strongly suggest that you bite your tongue and go back to "holding your peace", because YOU ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO TELL ME THAT I CANNOT RESPOND TO A POSTER'S UNSOLICITED COMMENTS TO ME, OR THAT I CANNOT STATE THE VERY THINGS THAT I AM QUALIFIED BY EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE TO STATE!

And spare me the words at the end of your post -- "Hope, Peace, Love".  You have expresssed none of that in your rude post to me.  What a hypocrite you are!  Where is the "peace" and "love" shown to me -- someone who has never done anything to you?

If you don't agree with my methods, fine.  If you don't think that disagreeing with my methods lessens the effectiveness of your prayers, fine.  Why do you feel a need to tell me this?  I don't care.  Just continue with whatever you believe or don't believe.  It doesn't matter to me.  It's YOUR life, not mine.  All I'm concerned with here is correcting your misapprehensions of what I have said or intended.  Your own personal beliefs of prayer or of no prayer, is of no interest to me.

The negativity that appears on the board, is the posting of ALL THESE MULTIPLE, UNSOLICITED, POSTS BY YOU PEOPLE, who then blame ME for the "negaivity", that you ELICIT.  If you don't want an answer, then DO NOT ADDRESS ME DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY.  AND DO NOT POST UNSAVORY, OR UNTRUE statements about me.  The fact that you stated that you want me to find another "forum", says it all.

What was that all about?  I posted to you after you sent me that, and told you I most certainly would keep Mike in my prayers (as I had been doing anyway.)  Then the next day, out of the clear blue, you start cursing me out?  What in God's name is the matter with you?  Or is it that you wanted to show your "friends" on the board that you could join in with them in bashing me, thinking that they would not see the above post that you wrote to me.  WHAT A HYPOCRITE!  In one breath you tell me that you acknowledge my "tremendous faith", and ask that I pray for someone, then in the next breath, you tell me that I'm egotistical and should leave the board!!  Something is seriously wrong with someone who could write those two conflicting posts.

GRB:  Another unsolicited post.  Why are you addressing me?  I've said nothing to you.  And here you are, rudely attacking me.

If you read the post above from Melissa K, and my answer to her, you will see that I do NOT post every day.  Not even close.  If all you people would mind your own business and cease calling me out, then my posts would not be so long.  But even the ones, where I am simply stating my own beliefs, are not longer than the COUNTLESS posts as long or LONGER than mine.   As you well know, WHOLE ARTICLES, stories, etc., have been posted by others on this board.  I don't necessarily want to read them all, so I SCROLL past the ones that don't interest me.  Maybe you should do that too.

Selfish?  Hardly.  My posts are concerned with healing messages for Bobby.  The others are answers to clarify my standpoint or to correct misinterpretations of my statements, as I am doing here.  If I give a personal account (as others have), it is to illustrate something about healing, or to correct an inappropriate comment made to me by another, as in a recent post, when someone accused me not knowing about "agonizing" personal losses.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION, several people have asked me to RE-POST four healings that I have had through spiritual means.  Many posters have posted information of a personal nature, SO WHY ARE YOU SINGLING ME OUT?   Review others' posts -- you'll see a lot of personal information/experiences being shared here.  Some are of healings; others are personal stories about horses, cats, etc.  There is much variety on this board.  But you have singled ME out, because you do not like MY expressions of faith, the few times I have posted something.

I don't have to start a blog.  What makes you think you have MORE of a right than I do to post thoughts?  NO ONE is "thrusting" "religion" at you.  As I've said before -- if you do not like my comments, or Bible quotes, or any other quotes that I, or others, might select to illustrate healing, then scroll past them and REFRAIN FROM ADDRESSING ME.

I was watching International showjumping a couple of weeks ago and saw a horse that had been kicked in the eye as a 2 year old and lost the eye, and then had an accident and had to have hip surgery.
This horse was a miracle and more proof that anything is possible and the odds can be beaten!
I can't remember the horse's name but the it was a woman rider and she obviously idolised him!

Ouija Board is racing today at Glorious Goodwood! I can't wait to see her run again! :-)

Also I heard that Desert Orchid is making a special guest appearance at Castle Howard this weekend!

An interesting article in the NJ Star-Ledger today concerning the NJ Equine Center and the work that they do. The chief surgeon of this center was present at the Preakness and assisted in Barbaro's splinting of his leg:

Bobby, a few days ago I posted that "Sometimes it takes an Old Soul to mend a village."

When I wrote that, I was referring to the slaughter issue, track conditions, and the like.

Now, I refer also to this coment board. There are thousands of people checking this board daily because of their love and concern for you. Most of the time it's positive, for you.

But lately, there has been a lot of bickering, name calling, chest-thumping, and general ugliness. Most of it comes from a small group of individuals who chose to take umbrage at darned near everything, instead of honoring Alex's rules about not being offended and scrolling past posts.

Barbaro, Old Soul, can you please mend this virtual village, too?

Another Comfortable night!!!! yeha!!! Barbaro you are making that miracle come true big guy!!! You stay strong keep doing what Dr. R tells ya. To those wondering why Alex can't go in to see Barbaro remember Bobby is in ICU I would imagine the same rules apply for animals as humans. Only certain people can get in to see ICU patients. Alex it would be so cool if you could take pictures of the reception area so we could see what it looks like. I am also curious as to how many stalls are in ICU etc. Looking very forward to your report about your visit there.

Also thank you for the link to my Splish Splash video of Barbaro. I didn't say anything about that one cause well its not like the rest of the videos it was done more in fun. I have always always admired how much horses just shine after their baths and well Barbaro I mean its a work of art the muscles on that horse. Reading how much he loved his bath I thought it would be cool to do. I use to give my ponies and horse a bath and they would go right out in the pasture and roll and roll in the grass and dirt. But they sure do shine after a bath just like a new penny.

Come on, folks. Let's keep this site about Barbaro. Nobody wants anyone to leave the board. You've all made great contributions but let's remember that this site is for sharing our thoughts, articles, photos and videos about BARBARO. If you want to share your day, use your personal email. Alex shouldn't have to create a chat room for you.

There are some that will be offended by anything. If you love horses, then you should be concerned about the slaughter bill. Saying that Dr. R is a hunk, is NOT sexual harassment - you are just stating a fact! If someone is that thin skinned, they shouldn't be on the internet because one wrong click and you could be on a site that's X rated. If a post about Barbaro happens to mention Dr R and how gorgeous he is, it's just adding a bit of humor to the post. Jeez, what's going on with Barbaro is sad but you don't want to drown everyone with the sadness so a bit of humor helps. But, when the posts take off on that and nothing else, this is not the place. That's for your personal email. Nobody wants to read how your day was or that you're going to walk your dog.

Alex did all of us a favor by adding this for us. Let's use it for what it was intended and if you add a bit of humor, all the better. But don't go off on side chats that should be done in your personal email. People are looking for info on Barbaro and should't have to dig through hundreds of posts to find it.

i'm with you jill.....i'm a long time peeper...have never written before now and won't be posting again after this....this board has gotten ugly as of late and this is the last time i'm looking at the comments portion...i'll just look for updates up top and thats it....i notice the florist is no longer posting about their visits.....thats too bad...their daily insights are now lost and if this ugliness doesn't stop...the whole board will be shut down and we'll have no updates on barbaro and he's whats brought us all together in the first place.....too bad.

Good morning all!!

I think we can all get used to hearing the news that Bobby had another stable night. But I don't take it for granted. I say a quick prayer to Jesus thanking me everytime I read the good news.

Well today is glorious in Cecil County. Low humidity and temps in the low 80's. I am going to do the RED BLAZED trail today in Fair Hill. This 7 mile trail does not even come over to Tim's side of Fair Hill. But I will be reflecting on Tim, Alex and Bobby nonetheless.

Yep, it is nice to see that SusanW is back as she is a dear friend. But she has to stop calling me the greatest guy in the world LOL!!!

We don't want you totally gone we want you in a chat room then you guys can chat all you want to. You people are really that dense you don't get it. Its not the updates say someone ask a question to someone else. That other person answers the question but it is buried in a bunch of banter. Can't you see. Who is it that is really not respecting whom here???? think about that please. That chat room is not coming quick enough. Not everydbody here has the luxury of being able to be on here all DAY long. Your constant chatting moves any questions some one might have jeesh to who knows where. But then you don't give a darn about anybody but yourselves. I too am out of here. For the people that have been here since the Preakness, like I have, it was very nice back then. Comments related only to Barbaro, our hopes for him, questions about racing for people who didn't understand it, all kinds of things that were pure and good and informative. We learned on this site. Now I can barely stand to even scroll past the postings. I saw this getting out of had about a month ago and it has now reached an irrevocable point. many of us from the "old days" don't post much, just our acknowledgements of good news from nbc. now, we just read, wonder why. I can't even read the comments anymore after this morning, and they used to bring knowledge, good questions, great poems and stories, prayers. I'll just check the updates on top and sign out.

CINDY..the answer is often...IF their temperment allows them, sometimes a retired horse gets too keyed up when back on the track,, it remembers that it was the place of competition...eg: I belive it was Forego that was brought back to Belmont a few years ago to parade around on a big race day,, which many believe led to a fatal heart attack the next day...

I'm SO happy that Barbaro is doing well. Actually, kvellin' mit nachas.

And sad hearing about another breakdown; Ms Speaks Freely at Saratoga.

This board/site/situation is a perfect breeding ground for manic depression! Maybe that's what's been going on here . . . .

Just one thing about a certain person (and others who have written re "cliques") - if having recurring posts makes a clique, than yes I am guilty. But really, I am a complete loner, only clique is with musicians I play music with. To put me in a "clique" category on this site just because I have had multiple posts here, is again just plain imaginary (delusional).

And every one please remember that old adage - "sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me." May I drop dead right now on the spot if I am a hypocrite. Anyone who thinks I am does not know me at all.

Guess I might as well post a little poem I wrote about 50 years ago:

This is my first post, but I have been visiting this site for about a month. I am not a big horse fan, in fact I have always been rather scared of them. But Barbaro has captured my heart. I check on him several times a day. Thank you Alex for providing valuable information. You are truly amazing. Thanks to the KF folks, I sent goodies to the NBC and Barbaro's favorite carrots to him on Thursday. It was a joy to do so. I probably will never post again, for I'm not a "poster". I just wanted folks to know that I enjoy reading their poems and songs and positive thoughts about Barbaro. I will keep reading in the future and I will join you on the vigil tonight as a did for the first vigil. I am a Barbaromaniac in my heart. Go Barbaro, for I believe in you. I love you, Barbaro.

But I do need to say this to those who have stated they have a relationship with God; last time there was a vigil there was a lot of quarreling, just prior to the vigil among some who post. Anytime you have that type of negativity it takes away from what you might hope to accomplish during the vigil. I think that is true for all, regardless of a persons’ position on the Bible or God related issues. For those of us who use the Bible and God as our life compass, perhaps we need to read again the scriptures where Jesus talks about turning the other cheek and loving people who don’t love us. I took some time today to read those scriptures again. Matt. 5 pretty much the whole chapter and Luke 6 starting with 20 thru 45. I did not see any small print that made any exception when someone was misunderstood or was attacked on a BLOG. Using scripture brings certain responsibilities. People view you in a more critical light and their expectation is you live by the whole Bible, not just bits and pieces of it. Within Gods house there are many rooms and each room holds people who have a certain kind of relationship with Him. God loves all of the different kinds of relationships He has with each of the rooms. There is no right or wrong only many. As I see it, we were called to come to Barbaro’s aide at this time. For what ever reason, it is our Heavenly Fathers wish we put aside our differences and partner together for Barbaro’s healing. No one person or one person belief system gets to be the “RIGHT” one. It is all of us, together, believing together, putting aside our egos and need to be right or important.

I did a Google search the other day and came across a tormented individual who has a BLOG up for Barbaros destruction. It made me sick to my stomach. I had to quickly close the page. I often feel like that when I read the quarreling, name calling, etc. Jesus said people would know us by our love. Our love has the potential to move this mountain of pain and suffering Barbaro is dealing with. He has a left foot that needs all of our energy and prayers for healing, pain reduction, no infection and growing a new hoof. Our prayers have been effective in healing the right foots bone growth. I am asking that all of us put aside everything else that is going on and focus on the task we have been called to do, pray Barbaro into health.

Way to go Bobby! ACN!!

DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE LINNIE IS? I had directed my "Barbaro hat experience" story to her attention, and Alex was kind enough to post it up top, but I haven't seen anything from Linnie in days so I don't know if she saw the story. It was inspirational to others (and that's great!), but I wanted her to see it specifically because she had posted about being at the computer wearing HER Barbaro hat and feeling connected to him through the hat.
Maybe she's just on vacation??

Thank you for the Splish Splash video. How cute! And don't we all pray that someday in the not too, too distant future Barbaro will have his dancing shoes on...

I've wondered before and that video reminded me--how do they keep the soap out of their eyes? You can tell I'm not an up close and personal horse person but I do love Barbaro.

It's funny that you bring that Movie concern up. I have always wondered about that myself. In fact, I was thinking about that the other day. One of the reasons that I never really like the cowboy movies and westerns when I was a kid, was because I could not stand to see the horses fall down. It was totally distressing for me. My folks would always tell me that those were "stunt Horses" and they knew how to do that, but I just could not believe that it was really true.

I wonder if any one has a definative on that issue? Although...I am kind of scarred to know the truth.

We started coming here because of Barbaro. While he's our primary interest, we have started some very important work, horse slaughter, safe tracks, etc. If we are shut down, we will loose all that we have worked so hard for.
We are a group that can do so much good. Please let's not loose sight of that. I'm begging you to just move on and get back to Barbaro and the business at hand.

I, too, thought this board was for "comments". Months ago, I began to post my comments on this board, which were always healing thoughts and prayers for Barbaro. There was no "chatting", per se, occurring, although some people thanked me for my healing thoughts.

Then, all of a sudden, from the moment I suggested a "vigil" (the first vigil), a handful of the same posters began to address me with demeaning comments about my comments, and also "chatted" back and forth among each other, which they continue to do.

I am not interested in "chatting"; nor do I take offense at posts; that is counterproductive. But I do think if someone addresses another directly, especially if their comments mis-state what the person has posted, then the person should be able to re-state his/her comments without fear of recriminations.

We ALL should be able to simply "comment", without someone else criticizing, demeaning, or judging our "comment".

I am wondering if this is a chat room or is it suppose to be just comments on how you feel, etc. about our Barbaro. I am leaning toward it being all about our Champ "Barbaro." I will be waiting for the next update about Bobby from Alex and sure hope it is a good one. We all love Bobby and pray to God for his recovery.

This is my first time to post,although I have been checking this site daily since the Preakness. I couldn't help being intrigued since Michael Matz grew up here in Berks County,PA, and as we all know, Barbaro is a beautiful and captivating horse! The pictures and videos of Barbaro, his races, and of Fair Hills are incredible. You deserve much thanks for allowing this site to continue and also for providing the regular updates of Barbaro's recovery! Good luck to all from Fair Hills who are racing this weekend!

ACN! Yay! Go, Barbaro, Go! Mike C--great comment about hearing about another miracle on Breeder's Cup Day. Let's all picture Bobby strong, whole, and healed. Strong legs. Strong hooves. Head up, nostrils flared. Picture it. Send that thought to Barbaro.

One question for the folks who have racehorses--what do they mean when they say a horse has "tied up"? This comment was made about Storm Flag Flying a few years ago. Does it have something to do with nerves?

Oh my God! I go to sleep for a little while and wake up to Alex wanting to shut the comments down - and who would blame him?

PEOPLE, PLEASE! Let's just try to IGNORE what we don't agree with and stop repeating ourselves.

One thing we all agree on is that Alex has been gracious enough to allow us to have this message board, now we are RUINING HIS DAY as he worries about what is being said here!

Let's try not to give anyone the satisfaction of causing the message board to be shut down.

There was a day maybe a couple of weeks ago when people were exchanging ideas on inspirational horse books and movies -- remember that? The question came up of injuries to horses in filming. The old films did involve trip wires and fatalities, but the wires were banned decades ago. On that day, I posted a link to the website of an animal welfare organization that monitors a lot of film shoots. The site actually rates films for how the animals were treated. I'm sorry; I do not have that link at the moment. If you Google, you will find it easily, I think.

As some of you may know, I have been in contact with the Washington public relations firm that is handling the anti horse slaughter issue. I have told them about our group and they are trying to possibly put something together, for those of us close enough, to go to Washington just before the vote.
They were aware of this site but will probably be checking us out. If so, I doubt they will go ahead with anything based on what they would have seen over the past couple of days. I told them that we were a group of people praying for Barbaro and checking his daily progress who have bonded over our concerns for horses and racing in general.

I am begging you all, please don't let this issue die because of what has taken place here recently.

Let's show them that we are the caring, responsible people that I told them about. PLEASE!! There is to much at stake here so let it all go.

While I don't normally root AGAINST ANY HORSE (they are all Barbaro's buddies, after all), I am cheering Edgar on because he is one of my heroes for his intitial quick-thinking and display of physical strength in "rescuing" Barbaro so quickly!!
...so, onward, Strong Contender, and SAFE HOME to all running today!

I just saw "Splish Splash" video. Thank you for recommending it. Barbaro looks so cute! I just loved it. Barbaro, you are a bonafide movie star!

Thank you Alex, for the explanation on "tying up." Storm Flag Flying was a wonderful filly out of an excellent female line. (My Flag and Personal Ensign, I believe.) She didn't race again after the age of 3. I assume she is a broodmare now. It always bugged me that I didn't know what had happened to her.

This board is becoming more & more visible to millions of people all around the world. It would appear that some individuals here have lost sight as to why this board was created....for the support of Barbaro. Some of the posts I've scanned through here have NOTHING to do with the support of Barbaro; in fact, some of them are out & out rude and nasty.
The last thing that those of us that care about the support of Barbaro is to see this board discontinued due to those individuals that cannot seem to control their emotions and fight back and forth. Suggestion to those people: if you feel the need to fight and get nasty with each other, why don't one of you create a board on Yahoo or MSN....you can then slug it out there but, PLEASE, not on this board!!!

Remember the prayer vigil tonight at 7pm for our beloved Barbaro. Some specific areas of concern to focus on that Alex posted the other day:

a)The left hind needs to grow hoof. The hoof needs bloodflow to the coronet to heal.

b)They need to avoid Bobby contracting L in any of his other three feet.

c)The right hind needs to continue to heal.

I hope everyone who cares and loves Barbaro will send their positive thoughts and prayers for his continued recovery.

The Haskell is not until tommorrow.Today is the Whitney in Saratoga.Edgar is racing on Survivalist,up againt Flower Alley.

Oh I hope fervently that this comment board will not be shut down. This is a place where our prayers and our love for Barbaro and his people have a place to go hopefully without dissent and bickering. For me, the day to day anxiety about his progress sometimes gets me down and here is a place where comfort and hope exists. Am a bit distressed that Alex has had to interject his comments twice in one update session. Please - everybody - step back, take some deep breaths and remember why we are all here. I want to be able to wish Bobby J a good morning and be able to join with all of you to tuck him in at night (once a mother, always a mother...). Just thank the good Lord we have the freedom to post - just remember Barbaro is still at NBC. He's not out of the woods yet and that has to be what we concentrate on -supporting him, his superb veterinary staff and the Jackson/Matz families. Alex and Tim have been so kind to give us this opportunity to give a forum to express that support.

Blinkers are used on some horses to keep them focused on racing. They also can be used for ones that shy at shadows.. There are many reasons but the biggest ones is to keep the horse focused on what is in front of him and not be distracted while racing.

Thank you for posting the article with Dr. Anderson's comments yesterday. It was the one I was trying to remember! It really highlights Barbaro's intelligence and adaptability.

BRENDA RYDER - thanks for the correction...I don't really follow racing, just love horses and now keep my eye on what Edgar Prado's doing! I'm definitely "Prado all the way" no matter what day he's up! And the names "Survivalist" and "Strong Contender" imply positive vibes to me.

Hope Mr. Prado can visit Barbaro again soon - I know he is much in demand (and has a family to support), but his last visit to NBC seemed positive for both horse and jockey!

kathy a...saw your post re: storm flag flying...one of my favs!! saw her at claiborne farm during may...she had a foal out of a.p. indy...she has her dad's temperament..she could be a real handful, she had that roman nose but that little girl could run!she didnt have a better career but maybe her foals will pick up the pace for her.

A wonderful site to check out your favorite thoroughbreds is www.pedigreequery.com. After you type in the name of the horse a page will come up showing their pedigree. On top, right next to the horse's name is an "I" and a little photo marker. Place the cursor over either-the "I" will give you a little bio and the photo marker will show a picture if available.

Alex: Just got up and while scanning saw your comments. It's really a shame that you have to also be the board monitor.

If things continue, maybe shutting down for a few hours/days as a cooling off period might help the situation.

I have learned SO much about horses, racing and care from this board, I would hate to see it permanently shut down. But you should not have to be the prison warden either.

He is such an utterly glorious horse, and ultimately all any of us on Team Barbaro want is for him walk out of NBC in a few months on four strong legs. NOT "turning the other cheek" would mean returning in kind what was done to one, which would not be in accord with Jesus' teachings.

Simply answering an unfavorable post directed to one, and giving facts to support one's position, is not, "not turning the other cheek".

When one can objectively state facts, while continuing to love those who do not love us, we are keeping our thought receptive to God's healing power for ourselves and for others.

I, for one, never harbor any ill-will toward anyone, because I do not want to be outside of God's protection, nor do I want to lose the ability to heal. Only when these spiritual laws are understood, can one truly correct what needs correcting, and continue on one's path of health and harmony. To hate or hold a grudge against anyone is to NOT understand God's laws, thus obstructing the healing power for oneself, and for others for whom one is praying.

FYI: Just because a response was posted to YOUR unsolicited post, does not mean that anyone has a "barren" life. It would seem the one with the BARREN life is the one who felt the NEED to address this person in the first place!

A few days ago I started the Carrot Posse for those who don't mind making fun of themselves and keep the board light. Unfortunately it did not work out that way. The humor led to conflict. I apologize and am sorry for all those offended.

Yesterday I had the honor of my words being used under the official update. I was honored by that. Sadly, those words did not lead to healing. So I ask humbly that all who identified with the Posse, no longer mention it here.

I stopped posting yesterday when I saw the direction the board was taking. I only post now to ask for forgiveness of all. I take responsibility for having been part of something that could end this wonderful lifeline.

Alex I hope you'll allow this board to continue. I will read the stories, updates and info and keep my frivolity to myself. I promise that I will not participate in any "chatting".

Alex and all who keep this site up and running each day, THANKS A MILLION TIMES OVER! Because of this site, I have been close to our precious Bobby and the people who care for and love him as I do. I have viewed exceptional videos, read beautiful poems, sent donations, bought Barbaro hats, given money for flowers, kept vigils, lit candles, and signed important petitions as many others have done. Without this site I wouldn't have known about these things. My prayers are with our Bobby but my hope is with the continuation of this exceptional site you have created for us.

There is a link above in the left hand column...then click on Virtual Stable on the
bar near the top of the page...they will then direct you to a place to register (which is easy...they only want your name and email addy)
Then, when finished go to virtual stable, click on ADD HORSE...you have two spaces to complete...the horses name, and a comment...I put things like FAIR HILL for Tim's horses...Shelley A
or Debra WI...(Gee I hope it is Debra who owns Bond Beauty!) then click on Add....the horses name will appear..click on it to confirm...
It really is very easy...and fun!

I am a lurker. My name is Chad i am 19 i don't write good. But i loved raeding what marky and the posse said. I never saw nothing rude. Just a person who loves that bobby as much as me. Yesterday she said teachers show us were to find hope. I wrote it down. i have trouble learning. at my school we sometime get to ride horse. i love my teacher he makes me lauhg too. I am not stupid i understand what i read. Why is it that the good people alwyas go to the side so the bad people have the way?

I'm glad you wrote, but sad that it had to be about this.

I was part of the posse, too. We thought we were cheering people up. But some people had a lot of trouble finding the things they wanted to find on the board. We were taking up too much space with the wrong kind of talk. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Some others did, too, but we love Barbaro so much that we are willing to give it all up to keep peace.

Sometimes that is just something we all have to do.

Keep writing! You are doing fine! Listen to your teachers, and ride those horses!

If the name isn't valid, you can't add it to your stable...It took me a couple of attemps to get Kielbase Queen in my stable...that is because the name is THE KIELBASE QUEEN...So, keep that in mind.

And, again, when the Isrealites left Egypt, they were instructed to take thier flocks and animals with them.

mind: In the Produce Posse, you could be a Rose Hip. They are the slightly tart fruit of the Rose (Derby---Roses---get it). Even thought they are tart to the taste, they are among the healthiest things you can eat.

I should have posted earlier. I'm a reader not a poster. Could you not simply block the 3 sour pusses that do NOT follow your rules? You wrote: "if offended do not respond". I follwed what happened and the attacks started when some saw leaders emerge and felt threatened.
The Produce Posse was full of humour AND information. I found Marky to be a natural source of light and inspiration, Pamela an expert in equine matters and Sally a hilarious comic.
The others such as Karann ShelleyA, Ernie and more, whose names I don't recall will undoubtedly also leave. Did anyone notice that 2 members in this group were picked to have their posts as part of the website?
Clearly, their contributions were enjoyed by many. I believe I am a member of the silent majority who would like to see this board be more the 2 official updates and an endless litany
of slaughter stories and religious rants.

A Maiden Special Weight is a maiden race that is NOT a claiming race. It is for horses that have not won their first race yet. All races have conditions. I believe, this race is for horses 3 years and older. Some are JUST for three year olds.

Two year old races are different. They are always ONLY for two year olds. Older horses cannot run in those races and they are always a short distance.

What a beautiful day it is here in Pennsylania! A great day for a bath, right big fella? Enjoy the warm water and healing rubs.

I'm off to take a break from my Saturday chores to take our chocolate lab for a 3-1/2 mile jog on our local recreational trail. I'll probably let her go for a little splash herself in the stream. During our jogs I think happy and healing thoughts of Barbaro. I especially think of him when we pass the property with the three horses, which includes a beautiful bay, and the day when Bobby will be able to walk in the warm sunshine, graze fresh grass and feel the breeze in his face!

In regard to your question at 6:19 pm, certainly all are welcome. To see some discussion on this point, you could refer to old "Barbaro Update 34", 3:26 am et seq....But that would be wrong. :)

Sally, I went to the vitual stable main thingy and selected view results...that gave me the Gator Nation list...clicked on horses name...took me to a list of the races at Philly Park...clicked on race 6...pdf gave me the results in really tiny print...
How do they notify you to let you know they are running? Isn't Keilbasa Queen running today, as well...

This way you willbe notified when the horses you are watching are entered to race, notified of the results shortly after the race and see the workouts of your horses.

I just read the article about the horse that was pulled up - she had to be put down. NOT ANOTHER ONE!! I'm sorry I read the article - now I'm depressed. How is the petition doing - I need to resend it out to some people who have not responded.
