    Barbaro Updates: 346

    updates are now here.

Update 2246: Curlin had his final prep for the Haskell this morning: Curlin gears up for Haskell, excerpt:

Looking a picture of health, as strong and robust as he did for all three Triple Crown races, Curlin breezed an easy half-mile in 49.56 seconds under exercise rider Carmen Rosas, posting fractions of 13 seconds for an eighth of a mile and 25.52 for a quarter before galloping out five furlongs in 1:03.97. The move had trainer Steve Asmussen in good spirits as Curlin cooled out back at the barn with assistant trainer Scott Blasi on the lead shank.

"He looked great, and the work was very good," said Asmussen. "He did it just about the way we drew it up. Carmen is amazing when it comes to that sort of thing."

Update 2245: News from Double Trouble. Red Aspen's eye is doing much better this morning. We will have to keep a very close eye on it but it has improved since yesterday. We are optimistic that it will heal completely and she will have no problems with it. She was also trying to bite other horses over her webbing this morning. This is her normal behavior so we think that she is feeling fine. Quick Quest is running in the 5th race at Delaware Park today and he was very chipper while walking in the barn this morning. He is getting a better post position for this race than the last race and hopefully the turf will be to his liking. Whip Smart hopefully will be running on Friday. She went nicely today. Robbie Walsh who is one of our regular excercise riders rode his first race this weekend after having a terrible accident in the Spring. He won the race and we are very happy to see him back in the saddle.

Update 2244: Steve Haskin writes: Steve Haskin's BC Countdown: A Sense of Saratoga, excerpt:

The one person who virtually lives with Street Sense is Paul Rutherford, who is the colt's hotwalker in the morning and a lawyer in the afternoon. For Saratoga, he has taken a six-week vacation to be with the horse.

"When we were walking to the detention barn, people were shouting, 'Thanks for bringing him,'" he said while grazing the horse following his Monday morning jog. "As we walked on the horse path to the paddock, they were shouting, 'That's Street Sense. That's Street Sense. Go, big guy.' It was the most amazing thing. I'm getting chills talking about it. It's just so cool being with him."

I had the pleasure of meeting and chatting with Paul Rutherford before the Preakness. He is a Fan of Barbaro.

Update 2243: Street Sense appears in good order after his win on sunday. As is usual he trained the next day, yesterday, which is a very unusual move: Street Sense on track for Travers, excerpt:

"He was happy to go to the track this morning, but not all that excited about it," said trainer Carl Nafzger. "This race really took that edge off, which he needed because he was really too sharp for me. I don't know if I could have held him another week if I had to. And it's always good to get that first one out of the way."

Other horses seem to have come out of their weekend races well. NoBiz worked on the turf yesterday, with a planned debut run scheduled on monday on the turf.

The Haskell which is run on sunday, like the Jim Dandy another prep for the Travis, is shaping up to be a short but solid field: Haskell still looks like a good show, excerpt:

Even without the Derby winner, the Haskell is shaping up as a very solid race with six strong contenders topped by the Preakness winner Curlin. The Haskell will be Curlin's first race since his loss by a head to the filly Rags to Riches in the Belmont Stakes.

He will face Derby runner-up Hard Spun; Dwyer winner Any Given Saturday; the unbeaten Cable Boy; Xchanger, who won the Barbaro Stakes at Delaware Park last time out; and Imawildandcrazyguy.

Am I among the first to post today? Its a sunny morning here in Chester County and hopefully it will be a wonderful day.

    ###
Many hugs to all of you...and LaurieH, we were both talking a lot...we both have a lot going on and I was so happy to hear your voice. I think my visit to you will be the first instance of "taking my show on the road." SherryVW, Arizona will definitely be next on my list of places to go teach what I have learned from so many beautiful horses. We'll chat and set a date.

Eva, keep us posted on what is going on with you.

Alex, thank you for everything you do.

ShelleyA, let us know what we need to do today. Anybody know if the Ag Appropriations bill vote will be on C-Span today?

    Good Tuesday morning FOBs

Let's hope that the House gets the wording corrected and can attach the anti-slaughter amendment to the Ag. bill. I'm so frustrated with Congress who it appears cares nothing for the opinion of the people who elected them. We need to remember this at election time.

I do beleive persistence pays off eventually, so let's keep up the pressure.

    Wisdom from the Grandfathers..

It matters little where we pass the remnant of our days. They will not be many. The Indian's night promises to be dark. Not a single star of hope hovers above his horizon.

Sad-voiced winds moan in the distance. Grim fate seems to be on the Red Man's trail, and wherever he will hear the approaching footsteps of his fell destroyer and prepare stolidly to meet his doom, as does the wounded doe that hears the approaching footsteps of the hunter.

A few more moons, a few more winters, and not one of the descendants of the mighty hosts that once moved over this broad land or lived in happy homes, protected by the Great Spirit, will remain to mourn over the graves of a people once more powerful and hopeful than yours.

But why should I mourn at the untimely fate of my people? Tribe follows tribe, and nation follows nation, like the waves of the sea. It is the order of nature, and regret is useless.

Your time of decay may be distant, but it will surely come, for even the White Man whose God walked and talked with him as friend to friend, cannot be exempt from the common destiny.

We may be brothers after all. We will see.

    Good Morning FOB's

    Strategy for Tuesday July 31

No news yet. While we anxiously await word about possible movement of HR503, there are several things that we should be doing. Instead of posting lists today, we are asking you to call your own representatives and ask for their support of ANY legislation or amendment that comes up that will put an end to horse slaughter and the transportation of horses to slaughter for human consumption.

We still need people to be involved with state groups. It has been proven that this the most effective way to get information out quickly when the need arises. If you can help, contact sbreaux1@verizon.net

House Members and Senators will be working out of their District Offices from August 6 to August 31. Now is the time to call for an appointment and meet with them in person. There is no more effective way to get your message out than a face to face meeting. You have the best chance of meeting directly with them during this month. However, if that is not possible, please arrange a meeting with their District Manager. Some of you may want to form groups for these meetings. It is usually easier to get appointments to meet with your legislators in groups of 3 or 4 constituents.

As you know, pro slaughter people are very organized and are out their spreading their message. We MUST be louder!

Remember, WE ARE BARBARO’S VOICE….let it be heard!!

We are closely monitoring the situation and will attempt to keep you updated on any actions being taken. Hopefully, we'll hear something soon.

Thanks for all you do and have a great day!

Harriette, thank you so for sharing the words of Chief Seattle. How we need his wisdom in these times of "leaders" who speak in sound bites and possess little, if any vision. And I just read Martita's words from late last PM about finding the 8 of hearts in the subway ... a sign, a talisman from Mr. Bobbey Jackson, to be sure!

    #### Glenda, absolutely no need to apologize about the bracelets, dearie! They'll get here when they get here. I was buying them early for December holiday gifts. I hope that today finds you feeling stronger. Please hang in there. We're all here!
To Jonna: May your procedure on Friday be totally uneventful. I am so sorry that you've had two friends diagnosed with cancer this year. Very scary and that is one of the difficult aspects of mid-life (although I think that I must be a lot older than you are - I'll turn 52 this month). Sending good thoughts your way, Jonna. ####

Off to run errands with my dad and my neighbor whose car is at the shop...gonna be hot today: oy, how I hate the HOT MUGGINESSSSSSSS.

Love to all who are striving, hope to ALL of us re HR503.Thank you all for being there...I have little pictures of you in my head...and except for Martita, and Shelley A.,I don't know what you really look like.

But I do think you all wear those diaphinous, blue wings of good fairies. When you get nuts with all this THINK about all we have done, horses alive because of us, their fillies and colts alive because of us, research moving the bar towards killing laminitis, safer tracks, and yes, I believe we will destory horse slaughter. I think it will be years before the trickle-down of the Barbaro Legacy is truly measured...but it's there...i think we are changing the way people are thinking about horses...even well-known owners.

Will be back soon. Hugs, kisses, high-fives, whatever you need: Harriette!!! Argh! I have to mail that chocolate to you!!

Hi, all you animal lovers. This is really easy and helps animals in
need. Please pass this information on! The Animal Rescue Site is having
trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota
of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals.

It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an
animal in need" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their
corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate
food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

Have not read anything since last week, so want to catch up. Had to clean the house ( kinda been neglecting it lately if you know what I mean)and ended up in bed ( Fibromyalgia bites )since Sunday. Terrible migraines and to stiff to move...

Oh well, feeling a little better today.

    Kathy S.,

Thank you for your post to Bart and I!

This will be quick - the boss stepped out...

Bart is still pulling his fur out so he looks alittle tattered but his appetite is enormous, much like our Barbaro!

The Vet feels that Bart is stressed so I am keeping an eye on it and making every effort to help him through this time.

He meets me at my car in the morning and head-butts me throughout the day! Tonight I need to run to the store and buy him more litter....and baby food! He LOVES baby food! Turkey, chicken and beef.

Thank you for asking about him Kathy. I will try to email you a recent picture of him tonight... it will not show his fur-loss. Even with patches, he's so handsome!

    Hay Joan

Ben suffered liver failure and poor Angel who had suffered terrible abuse wouldn't get up any more. Last week, Paris also crossed the Rainbow Bridge. As a younger, competitive horse she was pumped up with steroids which affected her as she got older. Unfortunately, by the time Stephanie receives many of the horses who are surrendered to her they are already too far gone. She gives them the best care that she can for as long as they are comfortable. Ben was a case of neglect. He was several hundred pounds underweight when he arrived at MHR. Angel was abused terribly having been tied behind a trailer and drug. She trusted no one except Stephanie. That's the business of horse rescue. It's not always fun & games with the kids.

    URGENT: U.S. House of Representatives
    to Vote on Horse Slaughter

    Support Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall Amendment

    Dear Humanitarian:

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote TODAY on an amendment introduced by U.S. Representatives John Spratt (D-SC), Ed Whitfield (R-KY) and Nick Rahall (D-WV) to temporarily stop horse slaughter. The amendment, which is being offered to the Agriculture Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2008, is almost identical to one passed overwhelmingly by the U.S. Congress two years ago. However, it includes additional language to prevent the U.S. Department of Agriculture from circumventing the will of Congress, as happened in 2005 when the slaughter continued. Its passage will ensure horse slaughter is brought to a halt while Congress considers passage of a permanent ban on this abhorrent trade.

    WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Please contact your U.S. Representative TODAY, urging him or her to support a ban on horse slaughter through the Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall Amendment to the Agriculture Appropriations bill – and to vote against any amendment that would remove this language. Also, ask your legislator to cosponsor the full American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 503), which would permanently end horse slaughter.

Respectfully remind your U.S. Representative that:

More than 100,000 horses were brutally slaughtered in this country last year at three foreign-owned slaughterhouses. Their meat was exported for human consumption in Europe and Asia.
Americans overwhelmingly support an end to this abhorrent trade.
Two years ago, Congress passed a similar amendment by an overwhelming majority, but it was circumvented by the U.S. Department of Agriculture – and the slaughter continued. The Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall Amendment will prevent the USDA from circumventing Congressional will.
Passage of the Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall Amendment will temporarily halt horse slaughter by stripping funds from the inspection of slaughter-bound horses – inspections without which the slaughter cannot occur.
To find your Representative, please visit www.compassionindex.org/search.htm or call the Capitol Hill operator at (202) 224-3121 and request to be connected to your legislator's office.

Please share our “Dear Humanitarian” eAlert with family, friends and co-workers, and encourage them to contact their Representative, too. As always, thank you very much for your help!

    Sincerely,
    Cathy Liss
    Legislative Director

    ######## OT (?)

Last night I went to hear some friends from N Mex who were performing at our homebase place, a dogfriendly bar in the Bucktown area of Chicago. Their tour (and new CD) is called "A Dog's Life" and they are traveling with Hercules, their tri-color 10 month old Jack Russell/Pom mix, who hangs out on stage with them while they perform. ANYWAY - they performed an original song written for Earth Day this year, and it is the best thing I've heard in a long time that I didn't write, haha. Wanted to share the chorus with you:

    Dig a little dirt
    Plant a little seed
    Wait a little while
    See what it will be

    ### I know this is completely off the beaten path, but we all need to say a prayer a light a candles for the mountain gorillas in the Congo. Someone is going through there and gunning them down and leaving them and the babies to die. For no apparent reason. The alpha male and three pregnant females are the latest victims. Jen

I thank you so much for what you do for the horses.
I am silent about half the time, chatty the other half! So I know many of you do work for anti slaughter. Pray for it to pass!

    Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall Amendment.

It is very important to get this amendment passed today. It will stop horse slaughter until we can get permanent legislation passed.

Faxed all the KY representatives We have 4-2007 co sponsors, 1-2006 co sponsor and 1 voted in favor of the 2006 legislation. So, I am hopeful, they will support this amendment.

I also reminded them, that if passed, this is a temporary fix. That we still need to pass HR 503.

Keeping the fingers crossed this passes and will give a some breathing room to get federal legislation passed.

    REPOSTING URGENT ALERT AGAIN!!

    July 31, 2007

URGENT: U.S. House of Representatives to Vote on Horse Slaughter

    Support Spratt-Whitfield- Rahall-Chandler Amendment

    Dear Humanitarian:

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote TODAY on an amendment
introduced by U.S. Representatives John Spratt (D-SC), Ed Whitfield
(R-KY), Nick Rahall (D-WV) and Ben Chandler (D-KY) to temporarily
stop horse slaughter. The amendment, which is being offered to the
Agriculture Appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2008, is almost
identical to one passed overwhelmingly by the U.S. Congress two years
ago. However, it includes additional language to prevent the U.S.
Department of Agriculture from circumventing the will of Congress, as
happened in 2005 when the slaughter continued. Its passage will
ensure horse slaughter is brought to a halt while Congress considers
passage of a permanent ban on this abhorrent trade.

    WHAT YOU CAN DO:

Please contact your U.S. Representative TODAY, urging him or her to
support a ban on horse slaughter through the Spratt-Whitfield- Rahall-
Chandler Amendment to the Agriculture Appropriations bill – and to
vote against any amendment that would remove this language. Also,
ask your legislator to cosponsor the full American Horse Slaughter
Prevention Act (H.R. 503), which would permanently end horse
    slaughter.

Respectfully remind your U.S. Representative that:

    - More than 100,000 horses were brutally slaughtered in this country
last year at three foreign-owned slaughterhouses. Their meat was
exported for human consumption in Europe and Asia.

    - Americans overwhelmingly support an end to this abhorrent trade.

    - Two years ago, Congress passed a similar amendment by an
overwhelming majority, but it was circumvented by the

    - U.S. Department of Agriculture – and the slaughter continued. The
Spratt-Whitfield- Rahall-Chandler Amendment will prevent the USDA from
    circumventing Congressional will.

    - Passage of the Spratt-Whitfield- Rahall-Chandler Amendment will
temporarily halt horse slaughter by stripping funds from the
inspection of slaughter-bound horses – inspections without which the
    slaughter cannot occur.

To find your Representative, please visit
www.compassionindex .org/search. htm or call the Capitol Hill operator
at (202) 224-3121 and request to be connected to your legislator's
    office.

Please share our "Dear Humanitarian" eAlert with family, friends and
co-workers, and encourage them to contact their Representative, too.
As always, thank you very much for your help!

    Sincerely,

    Cathy Liss
    Legislative Director

I really get sick about animals being referred to as property because they do not have any rights. They are not property like a chair or other stuff. They suffer and have feelings just like we humans do. I hope they stick it to Michael Vick. I believe the animals are Gods creatures and He expects us to take care of them. Sometimes it overwhelms me the beautiful horses so abused. The 22,000 dogs that were put down at the shelter from abuse or neglect in the city I live in. I have a few friends that do not Get IT. they say its too bad but then go on talking about a new dress or stuff. I come here to be with the people who GET IT!I think I may be getting to be a hermit. ha. all of you keep calling as we are the only ones who care. We and people like us are their only hope.

    Waiting, waiting, waiting...

Hope this wait is good for the horses. When I was calling Ohio, said there was still some wording in it that they disagreed on. I told her I think they have that worked out and is why they are trying to go ahead with it...

    Praying....

Have CSPAN on and I will not go to yoga if the bill/amendment has not been voted on. The animals come before yoga in my book. Have contacted my rep not once but twice today and he has a strong animal welfare record.

Alex, thanks for the update on Red Aspen. She is one of my favorites at Double Trouble because she DOES bite and shows her spirit - along with being one heck of a gorgeous horse. She's so special. Please ask Tim toalso give hugs to Red Aspen, Real Lace, Luke, Mass Romantic, Quick Quest, Fortuna, Who's Happy, Two Punch, Nautical Agent and any other horse I've forgotten.

OK...Basically, the REPUBLICANS are bringing up "fiscal responsibility" because they are trying to support the PRESIDENT in his position...i.e., I am going to veto the bill cause it costs too much...

They are bringing up other programs in trying to say that the AG BILL will "make us cut other programs...LIKE MEDICARE" (which is a HOT BUTTON ISSUE...

Posted by: Pamela at July 31, 2007 9:31 PM

Just stole some time to make my calls (NC)...

Talked to all the reps' offices...

    Overall the responses were good.

The aides were aware of the amendment, some of our supporters who haven't cosponsored said they will definitely support this bill, and all the aides mentioned they've been getting calls.

My impression was that even the (NC) reps who aren't against horse slaughter will end up supporting this Ag bill.

Thanks to everyone who has worked so hard
    to end horse slaughter!

OK...NOW THEY ARE STONEWALLING....ANYTHING TO DELAY...

THE GA REP CALLED FOR A QUORUM CALL (to see if there are enough people present in the HOUSE CHAMBER) since he knows he will lose the other proceedural vote...

    I HATE POLITICS!

Posted by: Pamela at July 31, 2007 9:36 PM

Posted by: MasseuseFan at July 31, 2007 9:38 PM

....IF 218 members show up on the floor the debate will continue...IF NOT...A QUORUM WILL NOT BE PRESENT (enough people to officially conduct business of the HOUSE) and the debate will end...

See...this delays and if it succeeds, keeps the PRES from having to VETO a bill which basically FEEDS PEOPLE...

I just called his office and told the aide that one American is listening and is appalled that an important bill is being held up with blather that has nothing to do with the issue and that I don't appreciate my tax dollars being wasted with this fillibuster. The aide said, "Thank you. I'll tell him." Who knows if he will, but it made me feel a little better.

just back from eating a cheeseburger on which i almost choked to death...now that was exciting. this is a place where i pretty much know all the wait-staff---they all kept coming by, asking if i was OK. my neighbor, and dining companion--a very dear but very strange ranger--kept his eyes cast down and kept eating...

Turning on C-Span: OY vey: they're still at it!!! But needles in the eyes, duct tape to preserve the spatial integrity of the brain, you guys make me laugh my ass off...

and now DICK DURBIN (NICE NAME) is going on about universal health insurance for children in this country. guess what: WILL NEVER HAPPEN.

Tomorrow there will be hearings on Pat Tillman's death from (gotta love this language; a remnant from Nam:) FRIENDLY FIRE. Holy crap....

Anyhow: now I know why my little hands are burning up: you little reiki fiends....i hope it did some good. Durbin is telling woo-woo stories about sick kids...okay, who's going to stop him from telling stories about sick kids? No one.

This all makes me sick. I try not to think about the BS that goes on in the Beltway day by day by day....but here it is, people...yes, we need health insurance for little peeples. I have no health insurance either, for that matter...and am getting the SCARY MEDICAL PROCEDURE on Friday courtesy of the Onondaga County Women's Health Outreach. Bless them. But there's not even anything like THAT for little peeples in NY...

Our priorities are berserk. A local Nat'l Guard Unit of over 100 moms, dads are going to Afghanistan this fall for a YEAR>

ok. THAT'S ABOUT ALL i CAN STOMACH. now returning to the Sci Fi channel, then NCIS, then HOUSE (god bless HOUSE...)

I just came back in and it looks like they are going to adjourn without resolving anything. Sounds like the hang-up is something called the S-Chip bill. Have no clue what that is. So all this talk and no action.

This feels like a serious duct-tape moment. Hours of checking in on this and no resolution! Take out your tape, wrap it firmly around your head, and hang on.... Your head may have exploded but you'll have enough gray-matter to continue on tomorrow.

I know what you mean, Susan. And just think . . . .this is just the House! Even if we get through that, we still have the Senate . . . and then the President. And then all the court challenges to the new law. Gonna be a long ride!

Hey Dee! I'm usually over at the Data Base. I haven't checked in, over at FrankSinatra.com in quite awhile. Shame on me. And you're right, NO one messed with Old Blue Eyes! Frank was also a major animal lover. His epitaph reads - "Frank Sinatra - The Best Is Yet To Come!" I also fervently believe that line applies to our efforts to save our horses. We'll do it - "All The Way," too! We just have to keep on keepin' on!

Joe's story at TB Friends today, how awesome one lady saved all 14 horses at the feed lot, what a great feeling there were no horses left behind.

Regarding Michael Vick, I think he should be ordered to use a portion of his 130 million dollar contract to build and support a rescue for abused dogs. In addition if found guilty I think he should be ordered to watch CSPAN every day all day.

Hoping tomorrow will be good news for our horses.

Hiya, FsOB! It is 8:42 PM and I am trying to understand what has happened in Congress this afternoon. Was the Ag Bill tabled? Susan in Hawaii alluded to the SCHIP reauthorization. God forbid! This Administration is opposed to health insurance (the State Child Health Insurance Program - SCHIP)for children of working poor families who lack family coverage thru the workplace. So this Administration feels that poor American kids can go without basic health care and that American horses can be served up for dinner for rich people in other so-called "civilized" countries.... Don't get me started or I'll sound like "Julia Sugarbaker" from "Designing Women"!! "God Bless the United States of America", as Dan Ackroyd said in the "Blues Brothers". I can't wish everyone peace tonight because I am so exasperated with the state of affairs in our government. Whew, please forgive me! Robyn

    #### To Verna!: Sorry to read about the fibromyalgia rearing its ugly head. Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.
Hello to Shirley Rocchi down in KY!
To Linda H.: Very sorry to read of Paris' passing at MHR. I am sure that everything that could be done for Paris' comfort was done.
To Linda H.: Hope that Bart de-stresses soon. Hope his pretty coat stops falling out, too.
To Debbie L.A.: Keep the faith, Sister Woman!
To Alex: I hope that Red Aspen's eye continues to improve. Was her cornea scratched?
To Barb in AZ: Glad to read that Chunky is feeling better.
To Mary S.: Please invoke more prayers for some good action on the part of Congress. Posturing on their part helps neither humans nor animals. ####

    HEADS UP FOR TOMORROW....

    Strategy for Wednesday August 1

We know many of you were watching C-Span on Tuesday and were disappointed to see things moving so slowly. Hopefully the rest of the week will be more productive! As most of you know by now, an amendment is being added to the Agricultural Appropriations Bill that will change the original language. This is called the Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall-Chandler Amendment. Instead of posting lists today, we are asking you to call all representatives and tell them we urgently need their support to pass the Spratt-Whitfield-Rahall-Chandler Amendment that will put an end to horse slaughter for human consumption.

Please call early since we don’t know if this will be brought to the floor tomorrow and we must flood their offices with calls for support until the vote takes place.

As you know, pro slaughter people are very organized and are out spreading their message. We MUST be louder!

Remember, WE ARE BARBARO’S VOICE….let it be heard!!

Thanks for all you do and have a great day!

    Shelley and Debra

    Hello Barbaro,

I'm sorry I haven't posted to you in awhile. But you know I still look to the Heavens and call your name.

Life has sort of overwhelmed me lately. Not in a bad way really, just some hurdles that I need to deal with. It all takes time and I need to remember to take it one step at a time.

But you see, there's enough of a child in me that wants to put the easy and fun hurdles up first!

I thank God that there aren't any towering hurdles in my life but there are loved ones that I sooo want to hold by the hand and help them over their own hurdles. I feel helpless offering only support and love.

My tallish hurdles are housekeeping (hate it!), keeping up with work, working on "special" projects and keeping enough milk in the house! See, nothing huge...

But there are other hurdles that ALL of your Fans are dealing with...Anti-horse slaughter, Horse Rescue, Track Safety and Laminitis Research.

Honey, we hold each other's hands as we work towards our goals. But we also feel the love and support from you and every one else in Hevvin.

We all have days that our causes just aren't getting results fast enough for us but yet, we march on...with little nuzzles in our ear, "Giving up is NOT an option".

The Good Guys HAVE to win these battles Honey. I pray for this SO hard, so many nights.

So, how about tossing some extra bright stars into the evening sky tonight and kicking a few loose for us to make our wishes upon?

Your Fans and loved ones will catch the ones falling and save them for a rainy day when we may suffer a setback and disappointment.

I will be sure to look for the absolute brightest star...you. I love you Honey. I miss you.

Let's grab your blanket and cuddle up for the night. Emma and Bosko are getting tired and I will tuck them in very soon.

I'll fluff the folds of your blanket perfectly for you to nuzzle tonight.

Your Dream Angels are here and ready with their satin bags to gather stars and Dream Dust for your loved ones and Fans to have a restful night of their own.

Remember Honey, your healing is complete and strength will forever carry you throughout your day.

Dream sweet dreams Honey. I'm in love with you. Good night. XXOO

    Hello Hope,

I've been away for some nights from the Board but you have been in my heart the whole time.

I need to email a fellow Fan about seeing more of the current pictures of you and Little Laurie.

    I love your face.

Your Dream Angels are all set to sweep you off to absolute beauty and everlasting love. They have plenty of treats to munch on the way.

Dream sweet dreams Hope. Remember that I love you. Good night. xxooxxooxox

    Hello Little Laurie,

Have you been a good girl?! I have been anticipating the arrival of August because that is the month that you will be going to your show!

I would LOVE to see you in your show..oh, how I wish. Maybe my fellow Fan will obtain some photos and email them to me... I must ask her!

Let's grab your blanket and cuddle you up. We'll fluff the folds and make them perfect for nuzzling.

Dream sweet dreams and follow your Mom on her journey in her dreams. She loves you so...

Good night Little Laurie. I love you so incredibly much. xxooxxoox

    Just wanted to say:

Laurie H, thank you SO much for tonight's much-needed tuck-in. May your own hurdles become progressively lower till they disappear. Purrs and headbutts to Bart!

Robyn--Julia Sugarbaker is one of my favorite fictional heroes! No one does moral outrage better. I'm with ya, sistah!

    Robyn,
Sorry I didn't get the full import, but as I understood the interaction between the majority and minority leaders just before adjourning was about the need to resolve a procedural issue over debate of the SCHIP bill before they could continue with the Ag bill. (How those two things got mixed up, I have no idea.) At least that's what I got out of the exchange. Hope that helps.

Dang, did I miss a troll???

Anyway, White Fang and Black _______(Tooth??? Paw???). Oh well, it will come to me at some ridiculous hour of the morning...it's past 3:30AM here in PA. Gotta love insomnia.....even my "nocturnal" (HA, I say!) baby ratties have gone to sleep! They are my newest additions to the family and they are so funny - when they are AWAKE, that is.

Back to Soupy, have you heard any of the "behind the scenes" stories about that show? Apparently it was pretty risque'.........we were just little kids laughing at the obvious jokes, missing all the other stuff, I guess!

Thank you for the e-card - it is hilarious. And thanks for thinking about me...

Back to the "drawing board again" for me tomorrow.....by the time these Einsteins figure out what to do with me, I will have given up and decided to become a drunk, LOL! I figure if I stay drunk, who will notice that I'm crazy???

    Crimeny, that won't work......I don't like drunks!

I owe some people some emails - will try to get on that tomorrow. Oh, hey JunJun is still up! He just came over to tell me to turn off the TV, turn out the lights, and go the heck to bed!!! No, I'm not that far gone!, he MEOWED it, lol.
