Story:
Registered thoroughbred mare, 23. Has done dressage, foxhunted, shown and been a broodmare. Bather is sound and could make someone a nice horse.
UPDATES
7/20/07: Mary Agnes, Bold Bather, and Mariah are all
doing well and enjoying the cooler weather. I'm
with them.
7/24/07: Mary Agnes and Bather are fine and have really
bonded. It's going to be interesting when we have
to separate them.
8/03/07: Bold Bather had a minor colic last week
and scared the stuffing out of me. We gave her
banamine and had the Doc on call but it was just a
gas colic and she came around after a couple of
hours. All the plumbing was working well so we
were fairly certain that there was no impaction
involved. She is fine now and she is also becoming
more relaxed in the new neighborhood.
8/11/07: Bather, Lady, and Margaret are all doing well
eating and waiting to learn their futures.
8/30/07: Mags will be leaving sometime in September for her
new home and I'll be bringing Bather to New
Windsor.
9/10/07: Mags, Bather, Mariah, Marisol and Mellie are all
OK and will be playing musical horses soon as
well. Mags will be going home with Carolyn, and
Bather will be coming to New Windsor with Marisol.
9/14/07: Mags, Bather, Mariah, Marisol and Mellie are all
doing well. I will be moving Bather and Marisol to
New Windsor when Mags goes home.
9/23/07: Bather was moved from Kingsdale to the front
pasture at New Windsor today. When I released her
into the pasture Jazz came bounding over to say
hello and she gave him the coldest shoulder I have
ever seen. He literally came to a sliding stop,
looked at her, and then walked off with his poor
little head hanging. He's just not used to being
rejected by an Ice Princess. lol
10/12/07: Bather, Marisol, and Lady have all been well
behaved since Tuesday's break-out. Of course that
could have something to do with the recharged hot
wire.
10/26/07: Bather is not doing well in the herd situation
and I am hoping to place her in a foster home
soon. Working on that one.
10/29/07: Bather has a foster home and will leave in about
2 weeks.
11/27/07: Bather is going to her foster home next week.
12/04/07: She did not go to her foster home yesterday as
the roads were nasty, the wind was ferocious,
and I am a coward. Just call me a fair
weather hauler and that's the only type of
weather I intend to pull that trailer in. I
tried to catch Bather today to put a blanket
on her and she had no problem at all playing
keep away. I'm heading back down as soon as I
thaw out to try again. She really is not a
lovable type of horse and wants nothing to do
with people. Silly mare.
12/17/07: Bather is still with us because when I hooked
up the trailer to take her to her foster home
I found that the lights are not working. I
can't be driving 200 miles south with no
lights on the trailer. Bah humbug! Another
little thing to get fixed. lol
12/26/07: All of the kids are doing well and enjoyed
their Christmas goodies yesterday. Mariah
has settled in with the herd and they all
seem to be getting along well. She and
Bather are hanging out together and they come
in to eat together. Thank you for that one
Mariah. I could never catch Bather to bring
her in for feeding but she does come in with
Mariah who never misses an opportunity to eat!
1/03/08: Bather is doing well and is getting much
better about coming to the barn for feeding.
She see's Mariah come in and she's afraid
she'll miss something so she tags along and
goes right into the stall for her meals.
Mariah has settled into the little herd quite
well and she and Bather hang out together.
They pretty much ignore the rest of the
horses unless they are noshing at the hay
ring. They are the elder royalty in the
field.
1/09/08: Bather has not gone to her foster home yet
because my trailer lights have not been
working. We finally found the problem in the
trailer but there is still a problem with the
connection in the truck. Apparently whatever
is wrong with the truck caused the problem
with the trailer.
1/15/08: Mariah did have a choke episode this morning
so she was getting plenty of attention too.
And Bather was posing in all her muddy
glory. No one would believe that those two
are de-mudded daily because they go right
back out and coat themselves as soon as I'm
finished. Goofy horses.

STATUS
Bather is a registered 23 year old dark bay TB mare who is
in great condition. She was awarded the Premium Mare
standing by the International Sporthorse Registry in 1993
and the coveted 1-A Premium Award by the American Hanovarian
Society in 1997. She has schooled in 1st and 2nd level
dressage, has foxhunted, and been a broodmare during the 20
years she spent with her previous owner. Bather has had a
lifetime of excellent care and her current condition
reflects that care. She is an excellent ride but does
require an experienced handler and rider.
