New England Equine Rescues

New England Equine Rescues (NEER) is a constantly growing 501(c)3 federally recognized non profit organization that networks horse people all over the New England region. NEER is dedicated to helping horses and horse rescues in all ways possible, including direct intervention for abused or slaughter-bound equines, effective horse placement, fundraising, and active support of the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act. NEER needs to find good homes, foster homes, volunteers, transport, advice, referrals, and as much support as we can to help stop the abuse, neglect, and slaughter of horses. There is no one facility, no one rescue, but a large group of people, ranging from 'an extra stall' to larger non profit organizations. We welcome all horse people, location is not important. The more people, the better the network.

Euthanasia is only used as a last resort, for a horse that is suffering, in pain, or unfixable...advised by a veterinarian, and only by injection. We do not euthanize for space.
NEER does not breed ANYthing, and we have a strict no breeding clause.
And NEER does not sell horses, all horses go as adoptions, with a signed contract.

7/16 New Holland Save..."Star"
Draft Paint mare pulled from NH's kill pen. She has a dropped hip.
Now named Star, she is living in MA with her foster family. They love her so much that they intend to adopt her. She is doing fabulously, getting healthy, getting fat.
Her hip is not a big deal, but they plan on getting her a chiropractor to see if it helps. (:

Hey Beth,
Thank you so much for showing me around the other day. I know it must have been a bit of a surprise to have two teenage girls show up at your house in the middle of the day but thanks for accommodating us. :) It was great to talk to and get to meet you finally!
Your place is really neat, tucked away in the woods..a perfect sanctuary for the animals. Any horse, cat, or peacock would love it there. :) When my friend Hannah and I drove up the driveway Dagh was poking his head out of his run in shed, happily munching hay and looked happy as a clam. Both the horses and Mario Hilario looked very pleased with their surroundings and as a fellow horseperson I was certainly impressed and I'm sure the horses had no complaints. Who would complain about having such a great place to live?
Oh and thank you very much for all of your help with the Belgian guy and the little Haffie mare. I was impressed by how quickly you were able to persuade my mom that we really should take in the Haffie for a while to keep the big guy company. You know as well as I that no horse likes being alone. My mom and I both really appreciate all the work you have put into rescuing them and then coordinating their shipping.
We look forward to your visit to our farm this weekend.
