Read more about Dawn, her "Five Wolves Studio" and what inspires her work

I learned silversmithing and lost wax casting about 8 years ago. The tag-line on my business cards is "the spirit20of nature in sterling silver" and designs from nature and animal-themed designs are really what I specialize in--although I make a wide variety of designs--whatever happens to inspire me at the time! The name "Five Wolves Studio" has a dual meaning. One of the highlights of my life was a friendship I had with a captive pack of five wolves, so the name is mostly to honor them, since wolves are one of my favorite animals. The more obscure meaning is the fact that all domestic dogs can be genetically traced back to five female wolves, and I just found that to be amazing!
I love the fact that my jewelry allows me to help out causes I believe in. A portion of the proceeds for my horse-themed designs are donated to UPenn Laminitis Fund and to FOB horse rescues. I also raise money for Best Friends Animal Society and the Black-footed Ferret Recovery Program through sales of some of my other designs. Besides working to end horse slaughter, I devote a great deal of time to promoting shelter adoptions and spay/neuter; ending dog fighting and breed-specific legislation; and endangered species preservation issues.
