Description of Rescue
Rhiannon’s Web incorporated in the State of New Hampshire in August of 2007. Our current activities are fundraising to cover start up costs (which includes filing for our 501 (c)(3) status) and looking to recruit volunteers and network with area businesses to obtain the manpower and supplies needed to begin giving assistance.
We seek to provide basic veterinary care, feed, daily care items and physical assistance for pets, whose people are in difficult circumstances and would otherwise be forced to surrender those pets to a shelter, or where the pets are at risk for unintentional neglect.
Rhiannon’s Web will assist With the care of any companion animal (including horses, birds, pot bellied pigs, reptiles, rodents and any other non- mainstream pet) not used for the personal financial gain of it’s owner through breeding and not to be used for human consumption.
According to the ASPCA Approximately 8-12 million companion animals enter animal shelters nationwide every year and approximately 5-9 million are euthanized. (These are just cats and dogs!!!)
Among the top ten reasons pet owners give for voluntarily relinquishing their pets are cost of maintenance, pet illness and personal problems.
There are also large numbers of pets that are abandoned and neglected each year. In many cases the people who neglect or abandon their pets do so without malice; they are simply struggling with some crisis and are no longer able to adequately care for their pets.
Rhiannon’s Web seeks to reduce the number of pets relinquished for the reasons stated above and prevent unintentional neglect by providing feed, supplies, vet care and physical assistance when necessary.
Keeping pets in their homes is not only better for the pets but better for a family in crisis as well. There have been many scientific studies proving the beneficial influence of pets on their people, and being able to keep pets in times of crisis may make the difference for a family endeavoring to recover from that crisis.
