Hello Horse Lover Friends.
Please let me introduce myself. My name is Adrienne Galler Lastra and, like Liz Kratch, I'm part of Amigos de los Animales. I am a volunteer in the Horse Rescue Division and I wish to thank you all so much for your support in helping our Horse Sanctuary here in Puerto Rico. It is the ONLY horse sanctuary in Puerto Rico and there are sooooo many more horses to rescue, yet we still need to bring back to health, the horses we have already rescued. The lack of respect for the lives of these faithful and awesome giant friends is very hard to live with and I see it on almost a daily basis. We are on an uphill battle but through our rescue efforts, our educational efforts and with the help of people like yourselves, we will make Puerto Rico a more compassionate land.
I rescued Diamante from the side of a road severly tangled in his rope and left to die. He has a huge gash in his leg which is very tender and swollen. It was the most expensive rescue I ever did and the money came from my own pocket. I cried buckets when I found him. As you already know from Liz, Diamante is a gorgeous and friendly big Tennessee Walker - Quarter Horse mix and his personality is kind of like a big puppy boy. He follows Cyndi and Julie around and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. I just smother him with kisses when I see him. He lights up my life!
Diamante needs urgent help. Cindy sounded pretty desperate to get him under the knife quickly because when we spoke with her the other day she said his leg swelled back up, and they can't put off the surgery anymore.
They are desperate to get the money together for Diamante's surgery. The doctor originally quoted $150 for each surgery, of which he'll need two. Cyndi thinks it will be more, but we need to start somewhere.
We have started a Horse Rescue Angels Club where those who wish to, may donate on a monthly basis by sending a check or clicking on Paypal.
